Very cute and quaint, but needs some work

This is a very cute spot and we loved the vibe of the place as well as the cafe for breakfast. Jake at the front desk was very helpful and pleasant. Unfortunately, we didn't feel it was great value for money. The room was a bit dingy and there was tons of noise from the unit above us until after 11 PM and then woke us up at 5:30 AM. Would stay here again but only at a much lower price than they are currently charging!

We stayed here on a last minute overnight trip. I loved the unique layout of the Inn and how cozy the rooms were. Everything was tidy in the room and we loved walking over to the Oakhurst Cafe for breakfast -- delicious!

Charming historic homes circle the woodsy area near UVA, a short drive to the Downtown Mall district, and central to the Monticello Wine Trail. Our guest space had a quaint living area, sun room, bedroom, and bathroom. No special views to mention. Transitional design with midcentury modern accents. Several amenities were overlooked at this price point, such as the convenience of a mini fridge and a Keurig coffee maker. Lighting was also unnecessarily dim throughout, other than the common areas. Note: Beware of the original hardwood floors and noise potential from an upstairs’ unit. Our first night sounded like a loud sorority party. Overall, the staff was polite and we enjoyed a chill experience.
This boutique hotel is a gem!

My daughter experienced something of a medical emergency while she was moving to Cville and the front desk staff of the Oakhurst where I was staying were immensely helpful, sympathetic and flexible in terms of switching rooms so she could stay with me. The bartender was funny & enjoyable; she offered to carry small plates back to our room. I had the best breakfast sandwich of my life at the Oakhurst Cafe! The grounds are beautiful & I loved our room. The homes are older so the rooms are not the most soundproof but the hotel provides great white noise machines and the sitting room between rooms in our little building also provided some space.
The Bug Motel

We chose to stay at the Oakhurst Inn for our four year anniversary with our dog, so we had to stay in of their dog rooms. Our room was dirty upon checking in and you could definitely tell hadn’t had a thorough clean in a while. There were layers of dust and dog hair on tables, floorboards, bed frame, and windowsills. The rugs were also stained and hadn’t been cleaned in some time as well. However, our main concern was the multiple bugs we saw on our stay- ants, gnats, flies, pill bugs, and small centipedes. After voicing concerns, we did have an additional clean to our room, but of course that didn’t get rid of the bugs. We even changed rooms and still saw another centipede. The dog room units definitely need a thorough cleaning and some sort of bug treatment immediately.
We maybe got 4 hours of sleep both nights we stayed. In addition to worrying about the possibility of something crawling on us or our dog, it was extremely noisy outside and the walls were super thin. Both rooms we stayed in also don’t have central air, and the wall units just added to the noise. We truly should’ve left and stayed somewhere else, but most places were booked or in an undesired location. We came to the Oakhurst Inn for a romantic anniversary trip, and we left feeling exhausted, run down, and stressed to the max. It was definitely not a good experience and we were so disappointed we chose to stay there for such a special occasion.
The only positive thing I can say about the Oakhurst Inn is the staff was very polite and the cafe had good food and service. We did get a refund for our stay, but you can’t erase an experience or get precious time back that could have been enjoyed. If the bug and cleanliness issue aren’t addressed immediately, I don’t see many guests wanting to return to stay. Personally, I will never stay at the Oakhurst Inn again and I will warn my close friends and family about my experience and how in no way does the Inn represent and uphold standards of “boutique luxury hotel.”
