Average Hotel. More show than value.

Its all about Bling, but behind the scenes its all cardboard.
This red line goes through the whole hotel. Look good but do not touch.
...otherwise you will feel the truth.
Desk staff is the least unfriendly and unprofessional staff i have encountered in 20 years of travel.
Do not expect anything from them or from this hotel.
No shuttle to town or similar services.
The lack of services in this hotel is ridiculous. The series 7 in front of the entrance mirrors the whole franchise. The car is parked there but can not be used if theres no Taxi availability.
Buddha Bar Drinks and Food during the night are an absolute joke and have nothing in common with the brands franchise throughout the world.
Wellness good, Gym receives no maintenance though. (missing screws on the equipment)
Buddha bar Pool, Staff Drinks and Food excellent. (very strange as the Buddha Bar in the evening is a whole other story)
Full of wannebe Influencer.
All in all, in relation to the price no other rating can be given.
If it would be 20-30% cheaper you could rate it higher.
Do not expect anything from the desk or any services.
Oh by the way, we did not even receive 1 single refill of 2 Nespresso Tabs during the whole stay. I think that says it all...
Every member of staff has a smile on their face, excellent

Apologies, this review is well overdue, we had planned our wedding here for July 2020, but something called Covid19 hit the world.Wedding was changed to our country. However, we decided to spend 10 nights. Galatia head of bookings was a star and kept us in touch with our booking and demands! Thank you. And wow, what a fantastic welcome we had from Svetlana, she really is a hero and can organise anything with panache. Thank you Svetlana. From the General Manager and Head of Food and Beverage (Vassilis) and Head of Front of House (Fortis) right down to the lovely staff in each restaurant and poolside, everyone made our stay excellent. The resort is not designed to be child friendly, and we loved that (there were some small children, but thankfully kept under control. The rooms and restaurants all face sea, and we had a marvellous garden level room with our own pool (not necessarily total private but gorgeous). We loved Bony Fish and did go back several times, we loved the selection of starters which we often had and ignored mains. Polina and Renato really looked after us and always made sure cold bottles of UP (Ultimate Provance) were available (even when they almost ran out !). Elena has huge amounts of energy at the poolside and always remembers what you like and is sooper efficient, even in the heat of the summer. The breakfast is buffet style, but you must wear a mask and disposable gloves whilst handling and food serving instrument, breakfast is a delight headed up by Konstatina who then arrived after breakfast at the Buddha Bar, music starts at lunch time till early afternoon and then again in evening, great fun, can be a bit loud, but if you don't like the volume, then go to the beach where you will still get excellent service from the lads running around taking orders,The Buddha Bar is great for lunch or dinner and run under good control of Captain Kosmas with Tamara by his side. There is a superb mixologist in the piano bar for evening cocktails (Philipos), he really knows his stuff and tell him flavours you like and he will surprise you.
The rooms a really comfortable, we did look at the private hot tub rooms but honestly, they are not private and people can walk past you, not what you really want when having a glass of bubbles with your partner.
Overall, what made a difference is that everyone was happy and smiling, this made a huge difference, thank you to everyone at Abaton, you made us so very welcome. Cant wait to see you next year, have a good winter closure.
BEST. HONEYMOON. EVER.

I cannot put into words how much my husband and I enjoyed our stay at Abaton Island Resort & Spa. We stayed Villa #2 - and I must admit we owe our entire stay to ou personal concierge Nole !!!! He was absolutely amazing. There are not enough words to properly explain how relaxing and seamless he made our stay. He greeted us from the moment we arrived, gave us a tour of the entire property, and was at our disposal for the duration of our trip. He made our dinner reservations, organized us to spend some nights outside of the resort (downtown at amazing local spots), and even connected us with someone in Santorini for the 2 nights we spent there (who then made all of our lunch, beach cabana and dinner reservations in Santorini). Nole always ensured we had everything we needed, and always checked-in to make sure we were choosing the best food and wine options at each restaurant! His recommendations did not disappoint.
The villa: aside from the absolutely breathtaking and spotlessly clean decor indoors, the villa came with its own pool and hot tub and had direct views of the beach. Along with the villa came an abundance of perks - as mentioned, our personal concierge Nole made our trip all that it was. We always had great seats at the restaurants and were treated like royalty everywhere we went!
The restaurants - we do not have a complaint about any. The staff at each restaurant were all awesome.
Boney Fish House - by far our favorite! the lobster pasta is out of this world.
WOWW Steak House - also AMAZING. a lot of food - so go hungry!
Elmes - we loved this spot for breakfast. We did a tasting menu one night for dinner too, which was also delicious.
Buddha beach bar - we never ate dinner here, but spent a majority of our days at the pool using their food and drink service. The service here was outstanding - all of the staff was extremely attentive, and the proximity of the pool to the beach was great.
The spa - we chose to do the couples massage and were extremely happy with the service. Was a great choice after our long flight!
If you are willing to splurge, I HIGHLY recommend a villa stay (with Nole as your concierge specifcally!!). We will absolutely be back!!!

We were received at the hotel mid evening by concierge Svetlana who took us to our beautiful room. She met us again the following day and was very helpful showing us around and advising us where to visit on our short, 3 day trip. She booked the car hire for us, treatment in the spa and generally looked after us. The room was gorgeous, very clean with a large balcony and a lovely view down to the sea over the gardens. We went to 3 out of the 4 restaurants and all had lovely food. The service and help we received from all staff was excellent. Would definitely stay there again when visiting Crete.
Spent a lot but worth every penny

We have very much enjoyed our stay at Abaton hotel. Let me start my dispelling a few myths: there was a ton of coffee pods in our room. My boyfriend lives on coffee and even he couldn’t keep up with the amount of coffee provided daily.
The meals are only expensive if you are greedy enough to nee a starter, main and dessert per person because the portions are huge. My boyfriend and I have very healthy appetites and finally refined the perfect meal down to a starter to share and either a main each or starter to share. You don’t need both. The quality of the food was amazing and we really recommend the tempura prawns and tuna tacos. The Buddha bar is mor expensive than the boney fish of Cretan restaurant but the honey fish was our favourite.
The staff were all amazing and incredibly attentive, also predicting your every need with out every hovering. Honourable mentions go to Poulina and Renato at the Boney fish, Jacob who waited on us hand and foot and the beach. Filipos who created wonderful cocktails and Xanthi at the Buddha bar who always provided service with a smile.
The property is incredible and there is something to suit every taste on the extensive grounds and beaches. We particularly enjoyed the private beach and the access to worth while snorkelling was fantastic. The room was cool and extremely relaxing with lovely bed linens.
Our only slight niggle would be that despite a lovely salt water pool, we actually didn’t spend any time there as the house music was just too loud, with a speaker behind every sun bed. That’s fine at the Buddha bar where they are trying to
Create an atmosphere but it was a bit off putting that the pool.
Every aspect of the hotel was luxurious and immaculate. It is a it surprising that it hasn’t come up in previous reviews the the town Hersonissos is quite scruffy and not in a rustic way. Never the less, there were choices for a lot of different restaurants however, the food would never compare to the food at the hotel.
For trips out we thought that Plaka and Spingalonga a are great as a day trip with beautiful views and rustic charm, only 50 minutes away. Also Gregory who has a horse riding experience in finikia which was great fun and real Cretan hospitality.
Most people doing less than a week will find that they could quite easily spend every day at the hotel without real need to leave.
Thanks Abaton Island Hotel and your wonderful team.
