Not great, wouldn't stay again

Reviewed 21 march, 2023

I wouldn't stay here for next time. For the price I paid, I was expecting a much better experience. The lobby pulls you in but it goes downhill from there. Elevators have no ventilation and are super small. It just smells really bad. Building is not well maintained. After getting off the elevator onto the floor where my room was, you will just find plates and trash outside of people's rooms. Room service was decent but they don't remove debris from the halls for at least 24 hrs. Rooms themselves are average and are that of a 3 star quality hotel. The rooms are small and surfaces are not cleaned properly. Found a lot of dust on the curtains and tabletops. This shouldn't be a 4 star property, it gave me more courtyard or fairfield inn vibes. The lounge was nice but that was about it. Not the worst hotel I have stayed in but I paid over $500 for something that was at most 3 star quality and that's being generous. I would have preferred to stay in a courtyard at that point for half the price. Staff was fine, nothing wrong with that just an old building that's not well maintained at all. Had higher expectations from this.

Great stay at the JW!

Reviewed 14 march, 2023

I just returned from a one night stay at the JW Chicago. Overall, I was very pleased with my stay. The lobby was very spacious but welcoming and the folks at the front desk were great. I had an issue with my room (it was right next door to the ice machine that was running). The front desk quickly moved me and actually upgraded me to a suite. The room was outstanding! (Room # 803 if you want to try for an upgrade). The executive lounge on the 12th floor was also pleasant. Definitely a good spot for breakfast. The lobby bar was great for happy hour. We opted to go up the Florentine for dinner. The food was great but the bartender was terrible. We ordered some cocktails and he was not happy to have to make them. So much so that I would never go back. But that didn’t spoil my stay! Lastly, I checked out the lobby of the neighboring building (the Rookery). If you are into Frank Lloyd Wright, check it out!

Beautiful hotel, great pool, fantastic staff

I had the best night at the JW Marriott in chicago. They gave me so many perks for being a Marriott status holder. From the time I stepped Into the hotel, I felt Welcomed and appreciated. The front desk associate Kristoff (?) picked a great room for my family. He had the staff send up a gift since we were celebrating a birthday. We rang the front desk for towels and they were up within minutes. Breakfast in the executive lounge was delicious. The staff was courteous. All areas of the hotel were clean. I highly Recommend staying at this hotel!

Comfortable stay on downtown with all the amenities

The JW Marriott Chicago is a great property ! I found it to be clean, well-maintained, and well appointed. Large rooms give a sense of spaciousness and they have been updated with a wide assortment of charger outlets, USB and electronic interfaces. The large screen TV’s are nice, while the included mini-fridge is great to cool down some beverages and store a snack or two. The fitness center, pool and spa were great and well outfitted. The Executive Lounge on the 12th floor had a nice assortment of fingers foods and hot small plates to make a meal or snack from. Throughout the day coffee, teas, small snacks, soft drinks and waters are available. No it is not the same as pre-COVID grandeur but more than acceptable. We all can find fault in a hotel, but, to mercilessly bully in a reviews like I have recently seen is ridiculous. The lobby bar was great, food and craft beer selection solid and though slightly pricey the servings were large. All in all I would recommend this hotel to all!

Worth staying

Had an excellent stay in January, staying 2 nights. Fast check in and check out. Had dinner on the 2nd floor in the Italian restaurant - service was good, food was fine. Rooms were spacious, comfortable and I was able to sleep quite peacefully. Used the fitness center - have to say, it's one of the better ones in a hotel - all the equipment you could ever want and plenty of open space. Location was great if you need to be in the Loop - very walkable. Would definitely come back on my next business trip.
