Great staff but lousy room.

I booked this hotel because of it’s four star rating in a famous part of Chicago. When I arrived the gentleman at the door made me aware that the person at the desk will be right back. They were understaffed because he was there the next day at noon. The staff was nice, but the room left something to be desired. It was not what I thought a five star hotel should be. It had a beautiful view of Lake Michigan. From the battered door to the mold in refrigerator, I was disappointed.

New Years Eve 2022

Great property close to the Jon Hancock Tower. I stayed here New Years Eve 2022. The Knickerbocker is a 1920s eta Art Deco hotel in Great condition. It is nice that they have in room coffee. Room 914 offers a small view of Lake Michigan. The ballrooms looked very Art Deco and luxurious.

This hotel was a complete lack of high expectations for what you pay or I had paid for 3 nights of during New Years. I will start by pointing out that I completely understand it’s New Years though there is a certain limit of time that people should be able to party or make noise and then have to understand to respect the other patrons who are staying at the hotel. The things and points that I couldn’t or will not stand for to coming back to the hotel👇🏻 1. The technology for the room is completely out of date or hasn’t fully been set up properly. THE PHONE: in the actual room i stayed in couldn’t been used to order room service, call down to the front desk, or etc. THE SAFE BOX: in the room was flimsy and completely out of date. It had to or hadn’t been reset and when I bring my personal belongings or expensive jewelry, I should be able to depend on it. GLASS WEAR OR CUPS: I had tried to use or ask for another water glass for the bathroom to one of the hotel service staff and was told that they were all out by 10:30am. When I had come back to the room being cleaned around 1:30pm there was a brand new or what could have been the same glass that I used the day before or washed out and put back. I don’t know the situation though If that was true it’s completely unsanitary and cheap. 2. THE BATHROOM was a complete yet passable Travesty where the SINK couldn’t even have water drain right and sit in the sink itself. NO FAN of which is dangerous and against code along with can cause someone to slip and fall or not see what there doing. THE SHOWER DOOR doesn’t even close a quarter of the way which can and did cause water to build up on the entrance and is dangerous where someone could slip and fall. There should be rubber floor mats when exiting or inside the shower itself. 3. TV SERVICES: alright so it has Netflix, YouTube, fubu, pandora for streaming services and that’s all? I understand your staying in a hotel though with it being the magnificent mile, the price for the room per night, and the amenities it should allow for more access per streaming service on the customers end of which we can log into and out of when we leave. 4. NO COMPLIMENTARY BREAKFAST: So my reservation was for 3 nights almost 4 days and I figured that I would be able to have access to get or go to breakfast in the morning. It is available from 7am-2pm though the funny thing is that if your let’s say paying $150 per night for a room you ALSO HAVE TO PAY FOR BREAKFAST TOO OF WHICH SHOULD BE OFFERED TO ALL. 5. NEW YEARS/NIGHT STAFF/ LOUD NOISES/POOR OR ILL-BEHAVED PATRONS: I understand that it’s New Years and people are enjoy time with one another to come together to celebrate the end of the year. Though, with as much SHOUTING from Walton street where people at other hotels and the one I’m staying in are yelling outside of the hotel and all is completely absurd! The hotels need to have people moving along and not staying around the area causing issues and commotions to bring other people who pay money to stay in the hotel issues. PLUS, with loud parties on floors where I’m staying and the walls of the rooms not proofed can hear all commotions. Hearing MULTIPLE PROFANITY WORDS SHOUTED along with slamming of doors and property damage to the room itself is COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. I had to call down to the front desk which took three calls to reach them to take care of loud obscene noise complaints at 2:10am of 1/1/2021. It took 25 minutes to confront the situation and to top it ALL OFF THE PATRON WHO WAS CAUSING THE NOISE WAS THROWING UP AND WAILING FOR ANOTHER 35 minutes! THERE IS SURELY MORE, THIUGH CAN GO ON BY SUMMONING IT ALL UP ⬇️ I want to go on by saying that this treatment is completely wrong to other people who pay good money or money itself to come here and the staff of the hotel should be either fully prepared or aware of outlandish situations that can happen and have. THIS WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A NEW YEARS STAYCATION WITH MY GIRLFRIEND AND HAVE BEEN DISAPPOINTED WITH THE WHOLE ENTIRETY OF THE HOTEL. From the moment I and my girlfriend came here we have been snapped at and have had snarky attitudes from staff on questions that have or had been asked by myself or her and shunned away to someone else who clearly can’t answer or change the situation or problem being had. I WILL NOT EVER BE COMING BACK TO THIS HOTEL TO STAY.

Holiday in Chicago

In June, 2021 we made reservations (via at the Millennium Knickerbocker Hotel. We requested a king corner room and that is what we received. The room was spacious and quite comfortable. At the time of check-in we were informed that there would be no daily servicing/cleaning of the room due to current COVID-19 protocols. However, the staff did attend to our room every day and we were very pleased with that attention. This hotel has a very nice restaurant that had recently reopened for breakfast. Andre, Alex and others there served us a delicious breakfast each morning. Finally, the hotel is conveniently located to shopping, theatres and city transportation. We GREATLY enjoyed our stay and hope to return in the future.

Great hotel, would return—I’ve stayed here previously and every time my stay meets expectations. Room service and closer parking (the garage across the street was full because of a wedding) but otherwise it’s a lovely hotel right off of Michigan Avenue, near everything.
