Days Inn & Suites Clayton

Chrystal (hotel manager) and Savina (front desk staff) both went ABOVE and BEYOND in terms of customer service!!! Due to bad weather, I was unexpectedly stranded at the Clayton airport at 10PM. After frantically calling other hotels in town trying to find somewhere to stay for the night, I came across the Quality Inn who luckily had 1 room left for the night. Savina was incredibly helpful and pleasant during the check in process over the phone and even arranged for Chrystal to pick me up from the airport as no transportation options were available. I was BLOWN AWAY by their kindness as Chrystal was actually not even on duty at the time! Both Savina and Chrystal truly made what could have been a very stressful experience a pleasant and relaxing stay! I have stayed in many hotels and have NEVER experienced such wonderful service!

On June 26th 2020, I booked rooms for July 11th and for July 29th. The cost was $127/night. I was flying from Ft Myers, FL to Amarillo, TX and then planned on driving across the border, staying the night at the Quality Inn, then picking up my sick mom who lives in Sedan, NM and taking her to Phoenix, AZ for pre lung transplant testing. The hotel accepted my reservation and swiped 2 charges on June 26th. On July 8th, I found out that the New Mexico governor was placing 14 day quarantine orders on all out of state visitors. Because I have a Florida driver's license, I was afraid of possibly getting reported for a violation if I stayed at the hotel. On July 9th, I called to cancel my reservations for July 11th and July 29th. Crystal, the manager, was very sweet and assured me that she would take care of the cancelation but that she had to run it past the owner for reimbursement approval first. I have phone records proving I called around noon on 7/9, speaking to Crystal for over 5 minutes. She cautioned me it might take 10-15 days for the charges to go back on my card. No problem! I never thought to check my email for the official cancelation after this call. I was busy with my mom at St Joe's in Phoenix so 15 days passed and then I realized I still didnt have my refund. On July 23rd, I spoke with Crystal again. She told me she would check with the owner regarding the status of the refund. Two days later, I found $127 refunded back to my Visa card. I immediately called Crystal to inquire about the other $127 charge I was owed. She told me that the July 11th stay was a nonrefundable fare and I would only be getting the July 29th fare back. So, she or her boss "forgot" to process my cancelation on July 9th, thereby rendering my stay as "nonrefundable" after midnight on July 11th. I tried to take the issue up with her owner/boss but she refused to give me contact information for him/her. I find the actions of this manager questionable and dishonest! She knows I called within the 48 hours and was eligible for a refund. She just kept parroting "sorry, it's a non refundable fare". I have reached out to Choice Hotels who owns Quality Inns to see what can be done. In the meantime, I would recommend people be careful when booking at this hotel. Insist they do NOT run your card before you stay there but simply use the card to hold your reservation. Otherwise, you might never get your money back if you cancel!

I was a little nervous but this hotel was nice. Check in was smooth. It was during Covid so we had to wear masks. The breakfast bar was closed but we were given breakfast bags of mini muffin, granola bar and orange. A/C wasn’t the coldest but we had ceiling fan in room. Beds comfortable and quiet hotel.

Power went out 3p minutes after check in...against their policy to refund. Lousy stay in a place without power. No air conditioning or lights. Absolutely poor customer service! I agree that it was out of their control however the stay was not even enjoyable without air conditioning!!!!

My son lost his airpods and we, thankfully, found a note on our car the next morning letting us know that another customer had found them right outside our vehicle and that they were going to hand them into the front desk. Upon getting this note, my son went inside to claim his airpods to find that they were not there. After several calls and discussions and promises from their staff to call me back with information I finally got in touch with a manager that informed me that no airpods were ever given to them and that all her staff had been asked about it. She then went on to tell me that what probably happened was the customer just left them on the desk when no one was there. They have three cameras that I could see that covered the front desk and after asking a couple times she said she looked at it. This whole experience seems very shady and now my son's airpods have now been stolen due to the fact that they are no longer able to be seen on his "find my iphone" app. Very disappointed with how this was handled. Won't be back.
