Hotels
This is our first hotel visit in the time of Covid. I believe this hotel has been newly renovated. We were upgraded to a larger room. The room design was strange especially the light locations and switches. The bathroom was small with no place in the shower to put your soap etc. The bed was VERY comfortable. The sheets and pillows were very nice. The towels are very nice. For a relatively upscale hotel there were minimal bathroom amenities. No shower cap, Qtips and 1 teeny bar of soap for both the sink and the shower. ( maybe I am being too critical, but I expected more from Marriott) Another positive was the capsule Illy coffee maker in the room. On the other hand there was no refrigerator which I find strange for Marriott. 😀
Outstanding Staff
The staff was extremely helpful. Tom at the front desk helped arrange a room for our family to social distance and eat together. The remodeled hotel is beautiful, very comfortable and a great location. We will definitely stay there again.
Almost 5 stars...
I like the brand "Le Meridien" and have stayed in many of them around the country. This particular one left me just shy of what I was expecting. This hotel is clean, the staff is nice and willing to try to do whatever is asked, and if you're visiting Clayton is in a great location walkable to great restaurants and in the heart of the Clayton metro. Why not 5-stars? During Covid, I see corners being cut that are not necessary/not being cut by other hotels. No ice machines operating (no ice buckets) - have to call for ice. No glass glasses in the rooms. The execution is a bit off - asking for things like to not be woken during a planned late check out (housekeeping pounding on your door like the building is on fire despite the DND notice). Their phone system was down most of the day to outside calls so I could not call-in to fix a reservation error. There is no bar at this hotel, the reason being "Covid" explained to me. Every other 4+ star hotel in the area that I know of still has a bar, even if to just get a drink to-go and sit in the lobby or take it to your hotel room. So I had to order from an alcohol delivery service to get my fix. Very limited food options. Last, the hotel feels more like a "Hyatt Place" kind of furnishing treatment, 3-star business hotel but without the bar. The rooms are very compact. Bed and pillows were comfortable. Noise levels are ok - I could definitely hear the conversations in the room next door when they became excited. I will check this place out again and hopefully these issues are fixed because with nice people working here and some corporate support, I think it can
Valentines weekend
We chose to go to Le Méridien in Clayton for a romantic weekend after exploring other Bonvoy options on line. It proved to be an excellent choice. Although the extremely cold weather limited our ability to explore the neighborhood, it is situated in an upscale part of town. From the moment we arrived, Tom was very attentive and informative and made us feel at home. No request was too small and he is an excellent reflection on the hotel as well as the hotel chain. When we return to St. Louis, this will prove to be our hotel of choice.
Very comfortable
We had a late arrival, And only stayed one night, and wish we had more time here. It is only about 12 minutes from the airport. The room was extremely comfortable, modern, and the breakfast was excellent. The service was exceptional. We Stayed during the pandemic, so unfortunately the area seemed to be deserted, but we will definitely stay here again.
