This hotel does not like foreign tourists, especially Americans! The staff including the manager are both incompetent and indifferent. The Covid situation only makes it worse. The attitude is just the beginning. For a double paid room you will receive a SINGLE small bottle of “complimentary” water, there is also a SINGLE chair to use and bathroom essentials. The bathroom feature a free breathable mold (photo below) and the balconies were not cleaned overt he s last few years (photo included). My complaints were basically ignored, no improvement to the stay were made and I was told by the manager that they are better than other places. Simply avoid or you will be sorry! Portugal is a beautiful country full of really nice people and affordable hotels. Just stay away from this one!

The hotel has a strong sense of design and VI does a good job. The hotel is a 10-minute walk from the city centre. The space of room is large and the bed is comfortable. Although there are not many kinds of food in breakfast, they are good quality and there is freshly squeezed orange juice.

It is an old biuldiung that was remodeled. Clean, nice staff. Great location, you can walk everywhere. They have a small bar downstairs eith a few options to eat. They are not able to cook, so basically they serve pre made meals. We had soup and sandwiches, they were ok. Considering costs and location, I recomend the stay.
Very comfortable "Stay" in the middle of Coimbra. Highly recommended.

Our three-night stay was enjoyable and we'd return if ever in Coimbra again. Excellent management which appears to be all-female. I was continually impressed by how well they work together. The room was basic but the bed and bedding were very good and the street view from the balcony was always inspiring. Breakfast was superb.
Yes, they are right - their place is JUST to stay and NOT to enjoy at all...

In course of our 2-week-tour around the country we stayed with six hotels incl. this one and its "relative" in Faro (Stay Faro Hotel) and therefore I could clearly and objectively state the benefits and disadvantages of each one visited by us. This hotel's strong points are: 1) its location (close to the central part of its old city and University of Coimbra) - from where without problems and within minutes you are to achieve the old center for walikng and sightseeing, the embankment and good restaurants with cafes; and at the same time it's possible to find a place for parking your car close to your living space (just turn to right at the next corner at the same side where the hotel is and you could see a large enough space beyond the firefighters'' station); and at the same side also but in other direction a big supermarket Continente to be found; 2) space dedicated to have breakfast (you are to be ready in advance that in Portugal in 95% of all hotels the eating area is very-very small :( - it's like in beautiful hotels in Prague with one clear difference... - there the number of rooms could be just 6-10; and in Portugal - 4-5-fold of that); here, at least, the whole ground floor is suited for these purposes; 3) Wi-Fi functions less or more reliably. And factually the list of benefits is exhaustive; all the rest concerning this "Stay"... is awful...just awful.... · The cleanness of common spaces and corridors is very arguable as in its counterpart in Faro from the same chain. The carpeting and floor-mates are so old and dirty as if you were travelling by some time-machine... The towels are not white but definitely grey and so thin that seem to signal to operations management many years!!! ago - it's high time to change us... There is only ONE elevator and there are a lot of people every time you try to use it... The personnel is so lazy and slow that you are to be afraid of disturbing their sleeping on the way... - just to clean the table to have your breakfast you are to remind them three times and to wait for their wake-up... You are not to have any variability or variety in course of your breakfasts - again and again stating, even the smallest breakfast in Greece would be three times as bigger as in this hotel (an do not expect breakfasts like in Spain, or, at least in Germany - forget about that from the very beginning :))... And if to compare with their colleagues from Stay, Faro... yes, this internal competition to be lost by those colleagues - they are even slower than here... And finishing your two-week vacations (if you have the same opportunity to live, for example, in Lisboa Legendary Suites, Dom Dinis Marvao and Porto Coliseum) you are to understand that at the same rates and even lower (if to reserve in advance)!!! you would be able to really enjoy comfort, service and clean & white towels and not just factually to "stay" somewhere for your money.
