Having also stayed at a Tryp hotel in Porto, we'd been advised to take a taxi to this hotel... a 4 km journey - impossible to walk!!! When I asked the receptionist what was there to see - she replied The Hospital!!! Yes, a number of pastelaria (cake shops) nearby plus several hospital equipment stores. Not sure why anyone would choose this hotel over 16 others in the city!!

Thank you to the wonderful staff, everyone friendly and helpful, couldn’t do enough for us, nothing a problem. We unfortunately were visiting under difficult circumstances our daughter was in hospital nearby and our stay was more for practical use. The staff facilitated our requests, always helpful. Big thank you for the lady who was at serving at breakfast when we arrived late when was closing by mistake. The rooms are generous and clean although a little basic for 4 star, would have loved coffee and tea facilities in room, no iron. Thank you again service 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

This very good hotel in the ancient capital of Coimbra is where JK Rowlings lived for many years and many sites and the University must have inspired some of her writings. The hotel is not far from the centre of town and offers a quiet haven after a hard days touring. Friendly bar staf and good cold beer on tap.

It has spacious and comfortable rooms. The staff is friendly and well disposed. Good cuisine for dinner. Breakfast not very varied but good. The only objection would be the distance to the center, it is a little removed from it.
Not a 4 star hotel!

Hotel seems very nice when looking pictures at their website however the truth is very different. Our room was not clean. Walls were full of old stains and marks, wardrobe looked like it has not been renewed in decades. There was only 2 coat hangers and it was three of us staying in the room. No flat iron. Room carpet had stains on it. Our friends room was full of mold and they got allergic reaction from it. Our room smelled very strongly of chlorine, I think it’s beacause of trying to hide the smell of mold. Also the bathtub in the shower was molded in the corners and leaking badly every time you took a shower. I asked for a room change but this was not possible. They came up to our room and tried to clean the bathroom but they didnt get it all. Same time the hotel manager told us that our room is difficult to clean and pointed out the empty bottles what we had put on the table for maids to clean. This was a huge problem for them to take empty bottles to trash... That is what we are paying for, to get our room clean. It was very arrogant treating hotel guests like this. I can not recommend taking this hotel.
