Excellent all the way around. Fantastic and clean accommodations; adjoining room for the kids. Front desk was very helpful. Lobby and room fresh, inviting and up to date. The bar/lounge was good. Breakfast was great; eggs made to order, chilled food were cold and hot foods were hot. Chilled counters for the meats and induction stove tops for the beans and out meal. Small smoothies were available at the juice station. There was a wide variety of breakfast items. Marco provided outstanding customer service, so did the concierge, but I didn’t catch his name.
Post-Pandemic Perfect (Seriously!)

I'm not exaggerating when I say that this hotel has elevated its service since the pandemic and really gone well above what other business and tourist hotels are currently offering. I'm traveling a lot for business and have been regularly told that all I should expect is a bed, nothing else. During the pandemic, most hotels seems to cut back on service, not add. The Cologne Marriott has added a lot! I didn't have just one good experience here, but almost every employee seemed to be geared towards hospitality in ways I haven't experienced in other Marriotts to be honest. From the trainee to the GM, they are welcoming of the business traveler and tourist in authentic ways, offering full breakfast, lounge, proactive communication through the app, etc. I'd almost given up on Marriotts as a service oriented hotel chain, but this place seems to change my mind (a bit). Beyond the crazy-good service, the location is good and the rooms are clean and quiet. The main bar is worth visiting for their selection of Bourbon, one of the best selections in Europe. I've recently had 3 good experiences at this hotel so am writing this somewhat superlative review due to this as a business traveler who also got to do a little tourism in Cologne.

The hotel is in a great location. The decor is modern and the room was clean. Arrived on my birthday and they gave me a card and some lovely cake. I appreciated being allowed to check in early, after a long trip. My only complaint was that there seemed to be confusion about the COVID protocols. The room wasn’t cleaned after my first night. When I enquired with reception, I was told it would be cleaned every other day. On the second day the room wasn’t cleaned again. The person at the desk that time said my room would not going to be cleaned at all during my stay. Clarity would’ve been appreciated.

We enjoyed our stay at the Marriott Cologne. The front desk, wait staff, and housekeeping personnel were friendly and helpful. Our room was very comfortable. The location was perfect. It was about a 2 block walk to the train station. On the other side of the train station is the famed Cologne Cathedral. The Old Town (Alt Stadt), Chocolate Museum, etc. were all within walking distance. My spouse is a HUGE bourbon fan. The hotel bar has an exceptional selection of premium bourbons. Too bad we did not figure that out until the last night of our stay.
Ripped off big time!.

Couldn't be checked into our booked hotel, so my girlfriend and I had to look locally for other hotels around it in the early hours of the morning. Marriot was next up as the previous hotels were full. I knew it would not be cheap but over €450 euros for what was essentially 10 hours or less of sleep :/ € 50 euros per hour of sleep. But the hotel staff knew they were taking advantage of us both, but we were tired and exhausted from travel, and neither of us wanted to sleep on the streets of cologne when it's wet, cold and rainy. But if it wasn't for the bed we both would have preferred the streets to be honest at least we wouldn't feel ripped off. No breakfast included in the extortionately inflated price. No milk for the tea, noisy Aircon, My girlfriend felt that the main room needed a full length mirror. As bathroom mirror steamed up and was the only one in the room. Also for the price you would expect reasonable toiletries. After applying shampoo she said the hair felt like straw, there was some conditioner at least. One tiny shower gel to share. One bedside table no plug sockets to charge phone next to bed. Had to carry our own bags up to our room. Bad sleep 💤 even if the bed was adequate and large in size when your own conscience is playing havoc with your mind when you have massively over paid for a room which wasn't even worth €150 max Staff may have been friendly on the desk but when the above happens who really cares.
