Refused to refund stay, be careful!
Reviewed 9 october, 2020
I had booked this hotel in the afternoon of 2nd October for my birthday getaway and I was due to stay on 3rd and 4th October. To my bad luck, Germany introduced the quarantine for passengers coming from Scotland just 18 minutes after I made the booking through Agoda, and I called shortly after to see if they could cancel the booking without charge. Apart from having my birthday ruined, today I received the response saying that the hotel refused to give me a refund or a credit for a future stay. I even managed to change the date of the flight with Ryanair for next year without charge, as the booking was made less than 24 hours before, but apparently the hotel is inflexible. They were even fully booked on the night of 3rd October, so they could have easily resold the room to someone else. I will check if this is legal for German law, in the UK it isn't. Be careful if you want to book a stay at this hotel.

This hotel is clean and functional. Our room was spacious. The location is fab, so close to the beautiful cathedral. Nice little sweets on pillow and friendly staff. Parking was easy at only €10 per day with the hotel discount, and very close to the hotel. Only reason it’s not rated 5 is the breakfast is limited - would be nice for more bread options and some cereal. I think at €11 per person is a bit expensive considering what is on offer. Overall, would stay again if in the area.
Nice centrally located hotel.

Nice centrally located hotel within walking distance of everything Nice and clean with a very friendly staff. The breakfast buffet had almost everything one could wish for. Outdoor seatting when weather permits
Great location, smallish rooms, nice and clean

Yes, it's true, the rooms at this hotel might not be the biggest you can find. But I was very happy with our room (think it was 204) which overlooked the square Alter Markt. There was no real closet in the room but a rack with a few hangers. Not much room for our suitcases on the floor either but the deep windows made up for that and proved to be a pleasant place to sit and watch the world go by on the busy square (which can be a bit noisy in the evening which did not bother us). The bed was very comfy and the whole hotel smells and looks very clean. The room seems to be recently updated and the bathroom was spotless and had a rather big shower after all. A daily bottle of sparkling water was included. Staff was correct but not very welcoming and smiling. One morning at 9 there was a fire alarm which meant that the whole hotel was evacuated and the fire brigade came. In a few minutes we could go back to bed. Location is great, especially if you're coming by train. Just a few minutes' walk from the main station. Loads of restaurants and sights and shopping nearby.
Don't be fooled by the photos...

Don't be fooled by the photos, this place isn't anywhere near what it seems. The main issue was that my room (104) was incredibly small. There wasn't a wardrobe to hang my clothes, nor drawers to unpack my clothing. There wasn't even space to open my suitcase without laying it on the bed! There were no tea and coffee making facilities in the room. The bed was comfortable but the pillows were not. There is no business centre to use for working, which is a problem when the rooms are so small. In terms of positive points, the bathroom was spotlessly clean. The breakfast was pleasant, albeit the service was hit and miss (there was one particularly unpleasant waitress with dark curly hair who was a real nasty piece of work). These don't really make up for the overwhelming disappointment of the rest of this miserable little place (little being the operative word in respect of room 104!). I wouldn't consider staying here again when I return to Köln and I urge others to avoid it as well. It's a nasty place and you can do a lot better by looking elsewhere.
