While I would have liked to give this hotel a 4 Star review I can only give it 3. I am a Marriott Bonvoy elite guest (Platinum and now Titanium) and left disappointed.
Check in was handled by Mari at the Front Desk, she was overall friendly. She did well to recognize my loyalty to the Marriott brands but did not use my name during the interaction to personalize the experience. She didn't tell me about my elite member benefits so I asked. She then told me that they don't offer breakfast for elites on the weekend and that I would be given 1000 points. I know it is not her decision and she was very apologetic.
Our guest room was clean although dated. I liked that they have stand up showers in the bathroom. The bathrooms are very small but ok. Standard Marriott amenities including a couple of bottles of water in the mini fridge. We were on the concierge floor (although lounge was closed). Bed was comfortable and bed linens crisp and clean. The TV remote was wrapped in a plastic bag. The case goods were worn and the overall design dated. We noted that the hotel has a renovation scheduled in the future.
I realized that Mari didn't say anything about out Elite Bonvoy gift. As we went back to the desk and asked she explained that they offer 750 points and that we did not have the opportunity to select. For a brand that was built on consistency Marriott is losing that moniker.
The hotel at this time doesn't offer valet parking so we self parked at 24.00 a day. No problem with parking. We were given a separate key to use.
We inquired about stay over housekeeping and were happy that this was available to us. We came back from a long day to a made bed, clean towels, trash removed and replenished coffee.
We noted the menu prices in the restaurant and the $17 +coffee thought it was very pricey for an omelet. We ate at the little deli (East Bay Deli) attached and enjoyed a good hearty breakfast for $7.00.
Hotel location is very good right in the heart of the city and near to the State Capitol and Museum of Art. Lots of good restaurants within walking distance and if you are there on Saturday you will really enjoy the Soda City Market on Main Street from 9-1. Entertainment, good food and lots of crafts that the shoppers will love.
Marriott Bonvoy guests might want to also consider the full service Sheraton Hotel a short block up Main Street from the Marriott. As a Marriott Bonvoy guest I suggest that Marriott either live up the guests expectations or change them in writing. Why should I continue to be loyal to the brand if the expectation that was set is not going to be met.
This is an old hotel that could use upgrades
Opinión escrita el 9 de Agosto de 2021
We had an enjoyable stay. The lobby was updated, but the rooms were not. We were upgraded into a suite, which I appreciated, but it smelled musty and was crowded with furniture.
That is my one complaint about all Marriott & their associated hotels - they are crammed with furniture. I am not living there!
The member breakfast on the 14th floor was hearty, even though I only went for coffee, there was yogurt, eggs, bacon, breads, and more. The woman working there was helpful also.
the staff was courteous and helpful, friendly, and remembered our names, because of COVID we asked that our room not be cleaned while we were there; however, the desk staff offered us water, extra towels, etc. those tending the bar in the evenings were also friendly, and helpful.
the pool is indoors and there is a small patio outside it.
self parking costs about $12 a day and the garage is connected to the hotel.
Additionally, this hotel is in a good location in the middle of down town. the art museum is catty corner and there are myriad restaurants within walking distance as is the capital building and other tourist sights.
Nice rooms, poorly run
Opinión escrita el 10 de Mayo de 2021
We had a reasonable stay at the Marriott for a few days, right near the USC campus, attached to The Hub. It's a nice property, it just felt poorly run. The cleaning crew didn't do a good job on any of the three days, leaving it slightly unfinished. For example, the coffee didn't get refilled, or there were no cups. The bathroom wasn't quite right. The elevator had some liquid on the floor for a number of hours that could have been urine. There were a couple dangerous pools of water on the floor that we reported that didn't get cleaned up for at least 5 more hours. It was a pretty busy weekend, but it felt like the staff just wasn't really trying. .

I have now stayed at this hotel twice and should have learned the first time. It is a good, solid Marriott, so a nice staff and comfortable. However they put me in the same room both times and both times the WiFi was horribly unacceptable.
I stayed on the phone with tech support for a while and the speed never got up to an acceptable level for surfing, never mind streaming audio.
If you don't stream movies or music, you should be happy. But not me.
