First problem: They don't guarantee that there will be anyone to let you in if you arrive after 10-11 pm at night (I can't remember the exact time; it wasn't made clear when we reserved the room on a third party travel booking site). We had reserved 3 nights &, due to travel delays, we realized we would be arriving extremely late (2 am'ish). We called the property at that point to insure that they held our reservation for us. However, it was after that "magic" time when they had closed the front desk and there was no answer even after multiple attempts. So we called Red Roof Inn reservations (HomeTowne is by Red Roof) & explained the problem. That's when we found out they may or may not have anyone at the front desk when we were due to arrive. They couldn't contact anyone at the hotel either, & said the front doors might even be locked. Stressful! Now what?? Eventually the very nice person at Red Roof managed to arrange for there to be someone there to check us in and give us a room key. HOWEVER, Problem Two was that they had already cancelled our second & third nights, because we hadn't arrived by midnight. I think the only reason we had a room at all was because they couldn't legally sell it again, since they were charging us for it (they assumed we were no-shows because we hadn't arrived OR cancelled the reservation). We were told to ask at the front desk in the morning to try to get reservations for our additional nights. As it turns out, this was a blessing in disguise because we didn't want to stay there at all and we were able to find a better place to move to after the first night. But at the time it was super stressful as well. If there is an event at the Concord Motor Speedway, lodging can be next to impossible to find without an advance reservation. On arrival, we were checked in and taken to the room by a very nice clerk. I had some concerns when we reached the end of the hall and there was an A/C unit there, laying on the floor, pieces spread out randomly. It looked like it served that end of the hallway (no central A/C?), and because it obviously wasn't running, the air was humid and over warm. The clerk explained that the maintenance crew were repairing it, but that was a tip-off of what we would find in the room itself. Inside the room, Problem Three was a total deal-breaker. Ok, there were no bugs, the floor was laminate and relatively clean, and the bed linens/towels were clean (credit where credit is due!). But otherwise the place was sad, very dirty, and run-down. Had it not been nearly 3 am by the time we got checked in and unloaded the car, we might have been inclined to go elsewhere that night. But as it was, we were exhausted so just went to bed. I should note that we're not high-maintenance travelers. My husband is retired military and we've traveled a great deal, stayed in some very dodgy places. We don't require luxury. If a carpet is threadbare or a wall is scratched or the furniture is dated, we don't care. We do, however, insist that things are clean and that nothing is actually broken. As you can see from the photos, they didn't meet our standards. And that's putting it mildly. The next morning, my husband had to go to the front desk to request a shower curtain. He was told that housekeeping would bring one from another room. Seriously?! He also asked about the additional 2 nights, just in case we couldn't find anything else. The front desk clerk informed him that they were full & couldn't accommodate us. Thankfully, we were able to find another, far better/cleaner hotel room nearby-- and for the same cost. The staff there even worked with us to give us early check-in at 10:30 am, since we had to be out of our hovel, errr room, at HomeTowne Suites by 10:00. In future, that second hotel will get our business whenever we're in Concord to visit family in the area. They went above and beyond for us, and earned our loyalty. On the other hand, we would certainly never stay at HomeTowne Suites again. Never.

Despicable

Filthy everywhere, no lightbulbs in any lamp in the room, overhead light inoperable, no shower curtain, no safety inspection in the elevator—which was also filthy, no evacuation map in the room—just ripped off of the door: all of that, in addition to rediculously hard mattress, stained furniture, and a party in the hallway outside my room until midnight. I’ll never go back!

Disgusting!

Reviewed 19 june, 2022

Honestly disgusting doesn't even begin to describe this place! With NO exaggeration whatsoever, this was the absolute WORST motel I've EVER stayed in! That's saying a lot actually, because when I was younger and would travel with friends, we stayed in the least expensive places we could find. Yet still, this joint takes first place on the disgusting list! We booked a room simply to have a place to crash after attending a concert nearby. We actually only live about an hour and a half away but we knew it would be late when the concert was over and figured this would just be an easy option. We were only staying one night and checked in around 4p. We originally planned to check in, take our stuff to the room, take a quick shower, get ready and grab a bite to eat before the concert. However, as soon as we walked in the room we literally thought they had assigned us to the wrong room. The room was absolutely repulsive! There was literally drops of blood on the pillow case, uncooked rice on top of the refrigerator and countertop, puddles of water in the floor, dirt/mud on the toilet seat and edge of the tub, some kind of dried brown goo all over the inside of the refrigerator, yellow spots on the all white bedding and as if the blood drops on the pillow case wasn't enough, there were also finger (or toe) nail clippings in the floor alongside the other dirt and debris on the floor. Like I said, DISGUSTING!! So, I of course called the front desk to let them know they assigned us to a room that hadn't yet been cleaned and to my shock, she informed me that it had in fact already been "cleaned" but if we could leave the room for a couple of hours, she would send someone up to "clean it again to meet my expectations"!?!?! Ummm, the condition that room was in wasn't going to meet anyone's expectations!!! Regardless, we decided to go ahead and leave. So there went our original plans... no shower, no getting ready in the room, no anything in that room! We got an Uber and left after standing (was afraid to sit) in that room for less than 10 minutes, of which 5 minutes was spent on the phone with the front desk. We returned from the concert around 1:30 to 2:00am and to our disbelief, the only thing that had changed in the crap hole we paid for, was they changed the bedding! Needless to say, we grabbed our stuff and drove home! I would absolutely nor recommend this joint to anyone! If what we saw is what they consider "clean", I can't even imagine what nastiness is lingering on what you can NOT see with the naked eye!

They need code enforcement and the department of labor out there

Mold infested filthy place. Housekeepers leave windows unlocked on first floor for anybody to come through. Front staff is delusional on what customer service is. They don't even use detergent for towels or sheets. Laundry will take your money. These rooms at max worth $35 a night. Get a code inspector in this place immediately, it's so many violations. And my first time trying to get in my room I opened the door and the beds were messed up and someone was in my room taking a shower. I closed the door immediately and told front desk, when we came back the window was open and I could see someone jumping the fence. She acted like nothing was wrong and without any consideration said you can enter the room now.....wow with COVID and everything else going on , then tried to put me in another room with trash still in it, Chinese food in the fridge. Red roof has no say so in handling hometowne studios mishaps. A complaint goes no higher than a district manager and he's crooked

The worst I’ve ever seen - see photos

Reviewed 10 april, 2021

We paid $95 to stay here for one night. We booked a head of time, had to pay before seeing the room, and weren’t allowed a refund. We immediately left and went to a holiday inn which was MUCH nicer for only $10 more. This place isn’t even livable. They say they are following sanitation protocols but this place is so far from even practicing BASIC sanitation. I didn’t expect much, but I at LEAST expect for the basic things to be cleaned. The bathroom mirror looked like it hadn’t been wiped in years. Hairs stuck to the wall. The fridge had stuck on food inside everywhere. The microwave was the most disgusting thing I have ever seen. I won’t even get started on the damn microwave... just look at the photo. And be aware that the bed only comes with two very thin sheets. No comforter. After seeing the rest of the place I was doubting that the bedding had even been washed. The hallways smelled AWFUL. Like mold and cigarettes. The sign on the door says that masks are required to enter but the lady behind the desk wasn’t wearing one. This place is absolutely AWFUL.
