Band Stay
A decent little hotel on the other side of the water to the main center of town but in a cool area. Stayed here because it was close to the venue. Nice staff, clean and a pub downstairs... Comfortable stay.
After reading other reviews, we felt cheated
We stayed in the Hotel Amager one Friday night between an evening arrival by train from Aarhus and departure from the airport the following morning. We had previously spent four nights in an Airbnb near the city center. To be fair it was dark and rainy when we arrived. And we were immediately turned off. First thing we saw was a noisy sports bar with no real food menu. Restaurants within sight were all closed. The hotel "lobby" was just an entryway to the left side of the bar. No one welcomed us. Someone told us to ring the desk bell for assistance. While waiting we read signs indicating a walk-in cash trade and pricing extra towels at 20DKK. The gentleman who checked us in pointed a hall and stairway out to us. Neither was lighted; I expected a motion detector to turn on a light. None did. We stumbled up and found our room with the light of our cell phones. Glad we didn't have to climb above the first floor. The room door opened to a large, totally spare, white-walled square space, minimally furnished, two single beds that did not push together and proved to be uncomfortable. No coffee machine to help our early departure for the airport; for an iron or a hair dryer one would have had to ask at the desk. There was a small wardrobe, a chair but no desk or table, and against one wall a bulky folded roll-away bed. The most ungracious room I've stayed in for many years. We feared noise from the bar, but as it was on the other side of the building we heard instead loud arguments and the noise of people stumbling around on the street well into the morning. Cars, few in number and quiet on the streets in Copenhagen, sped along the street outside our window, as did emergency vehicles and motor cycles. It was as if late night drivers were making up for the restrictions on driving in Copenhagen by racing down the street and accelerating at the intersection. One of us couldn't sleep for hours. Breakfast was described as "cold" and priced at 99 DKK. We took a pass. The room and bath were clean, to be sure. There was no bathmat and we were provided with the smallest bar of soap I've seen and two hotel size containers of ineffective shampoo. We paid more for this room than we had paid for a nice, quiet, centrally-located Airbnb in Copenhagen. Later I determined that we could have had a room at a servicable-looking airport hotel for just a little more money. My partner challenged my selection of this hotel. I looked back at the reviews and photos. They are pretty positive and show rooms that appear more pleasant than the one we stayed in. From our experience I would advise another location, an Airbnb in the city or even a discounted airport hotel if you are catching a flight in the morning. Some of the rooms shown in photos are much nicer than the one we were assigned, and perhaps if you arrived wanting to hang out at a pub, Hotel Amager would be your cup of tea. But we wanted a nice place to rest up before a trans Atlantic flight, and we did not get it.
Cool choice
I stayed in a single bedroom, small, simple however good enough for me! There’s a nice pub just downstairs with very friendly staff. Logistics are nice as well, Amager metro station, supermarket, place to rent a bike close around.
Nice hotel in good location
Good value in Copenhagen. The hotel is conveniently located near Metro stop and it was easy to get to the airport and to city center. It's a nice walk to the city center as well - not too long if you're in the mood for a stroll. Our room was clean and quiet. The staff at the desk were all helpful and pleasant. We'd recommend it. Our only complaint was that that the hotel only provided bath towels. They should provide a hand towel and a bath mat as well (bathroom floor was a bit slippery after showering)
A cheap night's sleep
Perfectly good enough for a night's sleep or if you have to get early to the airport (which I did). Room was tiny but clean and had a bathroom with all I needed. No problems at all. Very close to metro.
