Breathtaking grounds made for a peaceful stay. The food was mostly very tasty with a different menu each evening. Service was a little slow. Rooms comfortable and warm although not the cleanest. Would recommend for a family break.

Not a great experience for New Year

Due to a mix up in bookings with another hotel, we were searching at the last minute for a hotel to stay for New Years Eve. We visited Geyers House and were shown 2 rooms, one in the main house and one in a Garden Block. We chose the room in the main hotel. We were aware that a New YearsEve event was taking place, but were not told that the the room in the main house was directly above the room for the New Years celebration. When we returned to the hotel on New Years Eve, the noise in the room was so loud, that the walls were shaking and we could hardly hear ourselves talk. When I asked the manager that evening to move us, we were told that the hotel was full and that since we were aware that an event was taking place, she could do nothing for us, except apologise. When we came down to breakfast the following morning, there was no further apology, and no gesture from her to compensate us. My point was, that whilst we were offered a choice of rooms, we were not told that one of the rooms would be extremely noisy, which was unfortunately the room we chose. They should not have attempted to sell that room on New Years Eve. Otherwise the hotel was functional, though a bit shabby. When my wife asked for a lemon with hot water at breakfast, the waitress came with half a lemon in the palm of her hand. All a bit amateurish. Not a hotel that we would recommend.

Very disappointing and very expensive my bedroom was freezing asked for the heating to be turned up I was then charged on my card without my permission for late check out which we were not informed of on arrival a number of members in our large group had the same issue - for £200 per night I would expect way higher standard numerous people were complaining at reception- I was offered no help with my large suitcase and as it’s and old building there are no lifts - although the building and grounds were lovely we will never stay there again very expensive and be very careful of late check out fees!

Santa Sunday lunch

Had a magical experience at the Santa's Suday lunch. On arrival we were ushered into the lounge were we had a cosy experience with Santa. He greated the children and gave each their own little present. Then we went into the dining area to be seated for our Sunday lunch. I had the black pudding croquettes for starter and this was delicious. The turkey was nice but could of done with a few more sprouts :). For dessert I had the chocolate tarte and that was delicious. The staff was courteous and helpful. I would recommend visiting and will be coming back next year.

Lovely hotel, attentive staff, however beware eating in restaurant as you have to pay for two courses even if you only have one, so they have lost Saturday and Sunday business as will be eating elsewhere. Tainted the stay .apparently policy introduced by new management team.
