Another Excellent Visit.

Opinión escrita el 5 de mayo de 2022

We are always made to feel very welcome. Our room was spacious and comfortable, the evening meals were varied and very nice indeed. The service was friendly and efficient. It was our 5th or 6th week long visit for a ski holiday and the hotel never disappoints. Great position for walking into Courmayeur centre and the lovely Via Roma. Regular mini bus during the ski season to the Dolonne Gondola. I've seen some of the negative reviews and I wonder f they been to the same place as us! It is a traditional hotel and that is part of it's charm. As for breakfast, if you want a very good breakfast don't go to Italy - it is not a speciality area! We are already booked for our 2023 ski trip.

Baby aged. Location OK

Hotel is in desperate need of renovation. Service Adequate, food Very basic. Breakfast a bit wired, very basic buffet style breakfast - croissant, cheese, Ham etc, but you have to queue at the table it's laid out on whilst the waitress serves/portions it out. No hot options. Evening meal very basic. Location OK however a good 10mins walk into town, 20mins walk to lifts. There is a shuttle which runs for an hour in the morning and from 4-5 afternoon. If you come off the mountain early you're walking 😬. Poor value, poor hotel. If you are thinking of a trip - Hotel Sauze - SauzeD'oulx. Better value, better skiing, better service and food amazing..

The only good thing is that it is in Courmayeur’s center and well placed .. Old fashioned could have its charm.. but only If vintage ...rustical... Not this one. Probably not renovated nor refreshed since the 70ies .. the carpets in the rooms are awkward.. sure it’s clean .. family run .. perhaps I chose the wrong time to go.. but if open I’d expect a minimum of service .. the night porter (at 21:30) was as kind as an iceberg .. restaurant was closed and no possibility to get even a small snack .. it was just a NO. The restaurant room was though somehow inviting .. but I will never know .. value for money is in my view not good ..

Good and not so good.

We were originally supposed to stay at Dei Camosci, a hotel we have stayed at previously. Due to a booking mix up we stayed at Del Viale instead. Other reviewers have slated the food, we could find nothing at breakfast or dinner to complain about - yes not everything was to our taste but then trying different food is part of the travel experience. The pesto farfalle pasta was really tasty, the chicken very tender and the steak dish also very good. Desserts were tasty and most of the starters also good. Breakfast was typical of the area and there was plenty of choice for most people, this is not a country for the Full English breakfast - you can get that at home. Staff appeared a bit reserved at times and the welcome and service could be improved but it is not offensive, just lacking a little warmth sometimes. The rooms are cat swinging small, with the furniture and 2 suitcases stood upright on the floor it leaves just enough room to manoeuvre around the army issue circa 1950 beds, complete with wool blankets. The decor is really starting to date; in itself not an issue in itself but when the carpet looks as if someone has carried out an oil sump change on it and their is damp mould on the bathroom ceiling it is time to look at things. The hotel is sometimes unbearably hot, especially in the small hours, waking at 2am sweating like you have just run against Mo Farah isn't great. If the hotel cut down on unnecessary heating it might pay for a room by room refurbishment. The (squeaky) metal frame beds need renewed and duvets would be a vast improvement, better quieter extraction fans (ours sounded like an asthmatic warthog's death rattle) would really help and just some overall decoration would go a long way to lifting this hotel. Would we stay here again? Not in it's current state. With improvement to the rooms & heating levels then it is not impossible.
