This fabulous place has extraordinary history and fabulous staff. It's set up for kids, too, with fun costumes and numerous references to Puss in Boots. (As it turns out, this castle was owned by the actual nobleman who served as the model for Perrault's "Puss in Boots" fairy tale.) We took a tour around the grounds and heard about 800 years of local history from a deeply well-informed guide. (She knew so much that she offered *various theories* from competing historians on certain aspects of the history.) She didn't shy away from the difficult parts of the chateau's history, especially its use several hundred years ago by some leaders in the Atlantic slave trade. She exemplified the enthusiasm of the many people who have committed themselves to keeping the chateau vivid today. We also stayed for several nights. The rooms are giant and luxurious, a true treat. When you come, don't miss the beautiful Romanesque church right next door, which served as the village site of worship for over five hundred years. Also take a look at the pigeon house, which, in more feudal times, housed a giant flock. Well worth a visit!

This place is amazing. If you like chateaus. We had a great room in the castle. Bed a little difficult but it was antique. Bathroom basic but its a chateau. Great breakfast in chateau. Nice pool. Not heated. Would recommend to everyone. We were only ones staying so had the chateau to ourselves for one night.

This is a fairytale place, a must if you are in the area, Puss in Boots, magical. Great value well worth it. Staff are friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was amazing. The rooms are very spacious, our bathroom was a little small but this is an historic building so I guess we were lucky to have a bathroom at all. Fantastic value fantastic stay.

Magical Castle

Decided to visit this Chateau one afternoon and really glad we did. Really informative tour, saw lots of rooms unlike other chateau tours we have been on. There are lots of stairs on this tour, both wooden and stone spiralling right up to the tower and out onto the guards walk. However, my 87 yr old mother managed it !

We had a most friendly welcome from the staff who clearly enjoy their jobs at this beautiful old chateau. Nothing was too much trouble for them during our visit. I felt privileged to to stay in such an authentic and historic building. Breakfast was first class.
