Great value in Cusco

Reviewed 28 august, 2021

The Tambo del Arriero Hotel is a newly renovated hotel in a historic building in Cusco. It's a medium-sized hotel with maybe 20-25 rooms on two floors. The hotel is maybe a 10 minute walk uphill from the Plaza de Armas, and in an area that looks like it's getting gentrified: some nicer buildings mixed with some more run-down places. However, the area was totally safe, and reasonably convenient. We had a second-floor room which was very spacious and included an upper loft sitting area. It had a great bathroom and nice comfortable beds. All the rooms face onto interior courtyards, so there was absolutely no street noise. However, everything was hard surfaces, so interior noise did echo in the hotel. We didn't really have any problem, but I can imagine other noisy guests could be irritating. My one knock on the room is that it was a little dim: the windows were small and not much sun gets into the courtyard. The front desk was staffed 24/7, and the staff was very helpful around the hotel or arranging other things for us.

Beautiful space and beautiful people

I was lucky enough to be accepted as a guest during the Peruvian Corona virus shut down in 2020. During this uncertainty it was so nice to be able to call Tambo Del Arriero my home base for over 10 days. Obviously this was a difficult time for both the owners of the hotel, myself and other guests in which Martin and Adrian were always focused on guests comfort and safety. They have helped keep me sane and comfortable in their beautiful hotel throughout my stay and I can’t thank them enough.

Great staff

A lovely quirky hotel. Fantastic staff. Good breakfast. A little distant from the main square so is quiet but you need a taxi in the evening. There was some construction going on which was irritating. Still loved it.

The hotel is a boutiqe hotel. You can notice it from the first moment you enter (and we entered at 5 AM😀). The hotel managed to enable early check in for us. Breakfast at the hotel is one of the best we had in Peru (and we are already 10 days in the country). Breakfast includes french toasts, home made jams, yogurt, cirials, fresh fruit juice, avocado salad and much more. Location is in the historical erea 5 minutes walk from the san pedro market (must see). Staff is very kind and helpful.
