Service here is seriously subpar compared to other hotels at this price point. Immediately noticed the room had a keurig machine & not a nespresso machine…3 star hotel vibe. Pool didn’t have food or drinks after 5pm but the attendant told us we could go to the lobby & bring it back. Our experience at other hotels is that the attendants offer to order & bring whatever we want from their restaurant or lobby, they have never suggested we go soaking wet to get things ourselves. Then there was the Monarch Beach club…servers & hostess were extremely dismissive and seemed to go out of there way to make us feel unwelcome. We had originally sat away from the restaurant at the fire pit tables & were told there was no service there, we had to go get our own food & drinks at the bar (again 3 star hotel vibe). We ordered but it got very cold so we asked if we could sit inside the restaurant instead, they said yes but we would still have to get our own food from the bar they wouldn’t bring it to us…what?! Thought that was so tacky of them but didn’t complain just waited for our food & made a mental note never return. Then a young lady named Chelsea came over & asked if we needed something, we told her she apparently couldn’t wait on us and she apologized brought us glasses for our drinks & brought our food. Overall I didn’t like my experience here, didn’t feel it was worth the money at all & won’t be coming back. Do want to point out that Chelsea was VERY nice as was Paul by the fire pits, front desk guys were great too.

Luxury vacation

Went to the Waldorf for a quick one night birthday girls trip and had an absolutely wonderful experience! Every one of the staff we interacted with were friendly and attentive. We were treated exceptionally nice. Had a beautiful, large, ocean-view room (Diamond upgrade) relaxed by the pool, took the golf cart to the beach for a lovely walk, had a wonderful dinner! Highly recommend this gem of a resort!

VERY comfortable and elegant stay at the Monarch Beach Resort

From the moment I was helped from my car by a couple of bellmen, I felt well taken care of. I was there for a conference and we had most of the hotel booked so the common areas felt like our own little neighborhood. Very classy decor (my room had been remodeled just 3 weeks ago - Rm 484) The bedding is cool and comfortable and changed daily if desired. Our housekeepers Alejandra and Ilina were a delight and always available for an extra towel or water. The catering was excellent - especially the sushi/ceviche bar one night. We had dinner at both Bourbon Steakhouse and Aveo (Private room which was lovely) Great service by Bruce and everything was amazing. Highly recommend the Churros for dessert! Also the Black Bean "burger" was delicious...sat at the bar and service was good and food great. Impress your clients with lunch down at the beach club! So different than the usual dining up at the hotel. Also enjoyed a pool side spinning class one morning with Sheri and loved it. They were power washing the street at the residences next door so not as relaxing on the patio some parts of the day.

I gave these three stars to its amenity, its surrounding environment and some of its well-trained staff with hospitality. I minus two stars due to the poor execution of some of its staff in the department of reservations and the one of its beach club. Here are some details which make me enjoy my stay: 1. I really appreciate the upgrade by Ms. Judith Farris of the reservations department. She honored the Hilton diamond member of mine and provided me with warm and efficient service during the whole process of making my reservation. 2. I also appreciate the kind assistance and patience of Mr. Mark Benson, front desk manager of the hotel, during my stay at the hotel. He is patient, polite and willing to help his customers. 3. BTW, I also appreciate the phone call made by Mr. Joshua Karstens, manager of banquets. After receiving my opinion, he contacted me directly and gave me a clear explanation of the policy of the beach club. He's responsive and open-minded. 4. The rooms and most of its amenities are clean, stylish, high-end and elegant. The housekeeping team has been working very hard to maintain the qualities. The only thing I would say is that they could smile more while meeting with customers on the hallway. Maybe they are under considerable pressure given the huge arrivals of customers during summer time. 5. The surrounding environment of the hotel is breath-taking and impeachable. I strongly recommend people to stay there for at least two nights to enjoy the hotel and the environment. 6. The food of the hotel is pricey but delicious and clean. 7. The staff at the front desk, poolsides, golf club and reception are polite and well trained. However, I do want to add some unpleasant details to this review as follows: 1. They were obviously understaffed at night. I requested a blanket before 9 p.m., but they failed to deliver it to me at last. I contacted the guest service by app and by phone at the same time, but they just couldn't deliver it, which will be easily done by a motel within 30 minutes. Eventually, my kid had to wear a robe and be covered by a towel. 2. On the next day's morning, I called the guest service again and was answered by Ms. Patricia Cotton of the reservations department. I politely asked if a late checkout could be granted to me as a benefit to a Hilton diamond member. She immediately refused by saying that due to huge arrivals of that day, she was instructed not to give late checkout to any customers. She even mentioned to me that "your room is reserved by others and we have scheduled to clean your room at 12 p.m." Hmm, it sounds like she really wants me to leave ASAP. Then I talked about the missing blanket issue. Patricia basically said "I'm in a different department...I just came to work this morning...I can send a blanket to you now if you still want it...I have to serve other customers...if you want to discuss late checkout, I will connect you to the front desk." In our phone conversation, I didn't feel any respect, warmth and hospitality from her. She got tougher, more distanced and more impatient during the conversation. I have to say it is one of the worse experiences I have ever experienced in any hotels of any countries. 3. I also want to mentioned the lack of synergy and hospitality of the team of its beach club. I and my family enjoyed our time at the beach and then went to the beach house at 5 p.m. for snacks/ dinner. We chose a table at the patiowhere we could enjoy the sunset and sea by ourselves. After waiting for 15 minutes without being approached by its staff, we came to the ladies at the front desk to acquire a menu. Then we were told by one of them (a blonde who controlled the reservation system. didn't get her name) that we have to choose another table because the tables at the patio are reserved for guests who are going to have dinner there. Kinda strange for them to say so because we were planning to eat dinner/ snacks there. Anyways, we were put at a table in the indoor sofa area. After ordering our food, we waited for 30 minutes exact. During our waiting, we waved to those ladies in green dress several times to ask for service and the whereabouts of our food. Unfortunately, total five of them (including a gentleman in a pink shirt and another lady in black shirt) were chatting with each other, laughing, and then just ignored us while I'm pretty sure that some of them noticed us. Then my little daughter, who was 8 year old and was so hungry at that time, ran to them without getting my permission to ask them when they will serve the food. Some of them, including the blonde one, gave my daughter a condescending look. Eventually, another green-dressed lady (not the blonde) went to the kitchen to ask. It's just another moment that I feel disappointed during my stay there. 4. The worst part is: I was fortunate to be granted a late checkout until 2 p.m. by Mr. Mark Benson of the front desk. However, the electronic lock of the back door of my room was dead, and I locked my room from the inside before I left my room from the back door. My whole family had to wait for almost 1 hour to have the security team to unlock my door. While we were waiting, I called the guest service and once again was answered by Mr. Patricia Cotton. Her attitude improved a little but didn't pass my message comprehensively to the security team (I mentioned to her that I locked the room from inside). Therefore, a security staff showed up without bringing any tools. So he had to run back to his office to pick up tools, costing another 15 minutes of waiting. In the end, my family and I, all wet after playing at the pool, had to wait at the patio of my room for an hour, shaking and hungry. It's really unbelievable. Eventually, Mark was very kind to extend my checkout to 3 p.m. due to what happened to me, and waived my valet parking and the remaining amount of my dining after deducting $50 credits for a diamond member like me. He told me that the hotel is currently understaffed and some new staff are receiving training now. I appreciate a lot of things during my stay there. It's certainly a beautiful place. And the negative parts that I experienced may not represent this property's every facet. All I want to say is that the service of this hotel definitely could use some improvements, so that this property will really live up to the standard it should have as a Waldorf Astoria (it's renovated and reopened as a Waldorf in 2021).

Bad customer service at front desk memberships

Unfortunately I will not be purchasing the membership here. When asked to try the facility, I was not given a proper tour information nor was I provided with trial access to see if I liked the spa or fitness room. Very rude girl who seemed extremely inexperienced and new as well. When this hotel was privately owned before hilton took over, it was so much nicer and more welcoming. Thumbs down monarch. We also came to celebrate a family special occasion and left due to dissatisfaction in customer service.
