Great position. Lovely staff.

The main attraction of this hotel is the excellent, beach-front position. It's also close to the interesting old town (Middle Street is definitely worth a visit to see the 'real Deal').
The staff are all very friendly and helpful; although I have to agree with a previous reviewer that they are a bit 'under-dressed' in terms of uniform/smartness.
Our 'superior' room was lovely and very clean and well presented. The regular room (on our 2nd night) less so.
The common parts need a bit of a sprucing up and SUCH A SHAME about the very unimposing, unwelcoming main front entrance. Why has no-one thought about first impressions??
Sorry to say that my main gripe is the internet connection. As 4G is patchy all through the hotel, surely it's worth investing in a good wifi connection for guests?? The 'Cloud' that is offered is absolutely hopeless and if, like me, you need to get online for work at some point...it's simply not possible to rely on this server.
I would stay here again, but hope that the management might take in to consideration some of these comments.. They would make a big difference!
What a disappointment

An absolute joke, booked in for lunch, the restaurant area is less than one star, more like Fred's Cafe. The menu is extremely limited no more than six choices, only two sweet courses. I had Cod and chips. Oh dear, chips had been at least five times fried, more like thick crisps. Cod size was very small. Scruffy dirty looking waitresses not at all in keeping with a hotel restaurant. £4 for a pint of coke, someone is taking the mickey . What finished it off were the toilets, neither Ladies or Gents had any toilet paper in any of the cubicles . Shepherd Neame you should be ashamed of yourselves.
AMAZING HELPFUL STAFF

We arrived at the hotel ahead of our 2.00pm check in to find that our room was ready and waiting, A very helpful member of staff helped me upstairs with my case as I had 2 small children with me, The room was bright and spacious, 1 huge kingsize bed and two 3'6 beds, which were extremely comfortable. The room it's self overlooked a back street which I wasn't expecting, however, we didn't stay in the room much so it didn't really matter. My partner, had to circle the public car park, which is attached to the hotel for 20 minutes until a space became available, however £8.60 to park for 24 hours is such a bargain, there has to be compromises,.
The hotel does look very tired, it could do with a facelift and certainly the paint work should be redone as it gives it a scruffy appearance. Our room was spotlessly clean with a lovely bath room. It was called Cornwallis. I wouldn't ask for this room again as really this hotel is all about the views.
The one thing I must review is the fantastic staff. I have never been to a hotel where every member of staff is helpful and pleasant. The reception staff could not do enough for us. Supplying my 10 year old Grandson with an iphone charger when ours didn't work for some reason. We changed our breakfast time without a problem as we had slept in due to the comfy beds. All in all, a great stay.

A group of 4 friends had the family room for 2 nights. We found the room a great size with a lovely view of the beach and sea.
Beds were comfy and a large bathroom.
We found all the staff were both professional and super helpful, one of us had a broken foot and they could’nt have helped us anymore than they did. We had a awful storm whilst there, as it’s an old building we had a leak from the room, this was dealt with beautifully and promptly. Thank you.
The location is fantastic, right on the beach and mins into main high street etc.
We were lucky enough to eat our breakfasts outside with the view of the sea, food was fresh, cooked perfectly and well presented.
This is our second visit and I am pretty sure we will be back again.
Thanks again to all the team.
