Seriously, I can't decide if I should cry or laugh out laud! The place is run-down, terrible. Feels like time travel, pics say it all! "Grand Hotel" is a vast overstatement, staff is not polite - moreover rude - parking is not available, lobby is a cheap imitation of baroque, it seems they also use it for warehousing.
No comment...just see attached photos, had taken in one of the SUPERIOR front view room, and you never left right now any night here!!! Avoid it as much as possible! Disgusting...time travel to the wartime!!!
Far from Grand
Looking at this hotel from the main square in Debrecen, it looks nice, but as soon as you walk through the doors that changes. The foyer, although pleasant, is tired, especially the check in desk area. As for the staff behind in check in, they are rude, look fed up and barely out of school. Any contact with them seems to be met with rolled eyes and a sigh - maybe because they are expecting a (justifiable) complaint. I only used the dining area for breakfast but it is a wonderful looking room. The breakfast unfortunately was unsurprisingly not good. The egg and sausage was barely warm and limited cereal on offer. The bedrooms are the biggest issue. Although the rooms had been cleaned, the mattresses had no protectors on them, nor the pillows. It had a ill-fitting thin sheet on the mattress that came untucked as soon as you sat on the bed and by morning I was laying on a bare, stained mattress. In 38C heat we did have an ancient portable aircon unit that sounded like a helicopter taking off in the room and it had little impact on the room temperature. The bathroom was extremely poor with sharp screws sticking out of the walls, a shower head that sprayed water in all directions and a general odour I would thought only reserved for a Turkish prison's toilet. I was there for 4 long nights and not once was the room serviced. Plenty of cleaners in the foyer in the morning, I counted 6, but perhaps all suffered from vertigo so unable to venture upstairs. With a lot of investment this hotel could be the jewel in Debrecen's crown, but for now it's no go zone and you'd be foolish to stay there.
Debrecen charming but not much to do.

DO NOT EVEN STEP INSIDE!!! Someone should call the Public Health Office to put the hotel under a quarantine! I was there, but I didn’t stay. Everything is dirty, broken, disgusting and terrible. There is no word to say... I took some pictures, here you are:
