Location to beach is great but cannot recommend overall
Reviewed 13 january, 2022
I attended a retreat which booked rooms at this motel for the week. I was really hoping for a better experience. This property is SHABBY, TATTERED AND TORN. It is so run down and needs a renovation. The location is wonderful, with only a five minute walk to the beach boardwalk. That is where the good news ends. The bedding is stained and worn and I felt skeeved out every time I used the bed. The decor is drab and depressing. The lighting is dim. The kitchen appliances and shower are rusty and decrepit. The shower water doesn't turn hot even after letting the water run for 15 minutes. There are flies in the shower. The exterior lock uses an old fashioned key and it's the kind of old knob where you don't really feel secure. The tiles are chipped, scuffed and super worn. The paint on the walls is old and scuffed. The A/C is noisy as all heck. There is no dishwasher and there is a sign posted inside a kitchen cabinet explaining that dishes/utensils are not washed according to board of health regulations but rather simply cleaned using conventional methods (ie washed in the room by hand). Considering there is no hot water in the shower, I have no confidence in the hygiene of the dishes, glasses, mugs, etc. Also, don't count on any paper towels, tissues or even hangers in the closet - my unit had zero of the above upon arrival. I was given hangers upon request. Bring your own coffee if you dare to use the coffee maker. The wifi went out twice during my stay. One of the outages was brief but the other went on from evening until the next morning. I went to the office to see if someone could reset the wifi system. Nobody is in the office after hours. I called one of the posted phone numbers on the office door for after-hours help. The person on the phone was lovely and police but simply blamed the wifi outage on the rain and said nothing could be done until the next day. Frustrating - it was not a huge thunderstorm or hurricane - just a light evening rain. I wanted to sit on the chair outside of my unit while making a call. I saw that the chair and little side table next to it had long, dark human hair all over it. I couldn't bring myself to sit on that chair after all! Some positives - again, the proximity to the beach is great. The housekeeping staff seem so sweet and hard working. The units are spacious, albeit shabby and depressing. If they would do a renovation, this could be a fantastic place!!! I haven't written a review on TripAdvisor in a long time (I used to do tons of reviews but I fell away from the habit). Honestly. this property was so disappointing that it brought me back to warn other potential customers. I really don't like to be negative but I would NEVER stay here again. It's pretty bad.
Super cute beach motel

This place is really cute. They have nice outdoor spaces with plenty of seating to enjoy the pool or the weather or one night we sat out and watched a cool lightning storm. Room was very clean. Housekeeping service every day (we stayed 4 nights). Staff is extremely friendly. They are not available in the evening but we didn’t need them then anyway. So close to the beach! Just a quick walk less than 5 minutes. Walking the other way are a couple bars, restaurants, and stores. Really great area. Very happy with our stay.
Beware no front desk after hours

So we stayed here the end of July on a Monday night. I was woken up around 11pm by a party in the pool and a party next door. I called front desk only to find out there ain't no front desk after hours. I called the cops (cause I'm exhausted). I got the party to leave the pool but the party next door carried on. Cops never came and it was almost 3am before they went to sleep. Literally they woke a baby up a few doors down. I even went next door and told them to please quiet down. They got louder. I went to front desk at 8am and told them i was pissed and now super exhausted. She went and knocked on their door and there was 6 people staying in a room. I asked for a refund or something and she said the owner would call me back. I've never heard Jack but i know i will never stay here and i will warn others. And it's Broward County sheriff that deals w this area if you wanted to know. 😕 The room was clean and big but the shower is weird to work. Beds was decent.

I loved this place. They aren’t far from the beach, and are near so many things. The staff is super friendly and helpful. The rooms are very clean and nice. The only complaint is you can hear people outside your room when they are doing anything. The pool is really nice, and the grounds are perfect to feel like Old Florida.
Carriage House Resort and Club Lux Resort
Reviewed 22 may, 2021
I would like to compare 2 different stays in Deerfield Beach with Carriage House Resort and Club Lux Resort. I usually get either king efficiency or twin efficiency rooms with a full kitchen at the least, but at times stayed in 1-2BR with a living room area. I travel to Deerfield Beach 4-5 times a year and stay from 5-10 days since 2018, either at Club Lux or Carriage House. Excluding most of 2020. I have stayed at both in 2021 already. LOCATION!! LOCATION!! LOCATION!! The Carriage House is perfectly located quietly on S. Ocean Hwy a short block away from the middle of the beach. You can stay on Carriage House property and see the sun come up at horizon level looking down the block. Club Lux you need to walk all the way to sand to see it. I have had mornings at both locations where you will hear landscape blowers, so just depends on length of stay and luck of which days for both locations. Club Lux in on a back street several blocks away from sand through a parking garage and parking lot your most direct route. Overall, both are closer than just about most places, but when you have kids and/or carrying many things, Carriage House is a short easy walk to sand. The kitchen at Carriage House was significantly more supplied than Club Lux. Carriage has a whole range of pots, pans, utensils and a working coffee maker with filters. Club Lux there would be some rooms a pot and 2 pans, fewer utensils, and at first a coffee maker w/o any filter (so useless), and then changed to the all-in-one paper pouch. At Carriage House I had a full walk area of closet with over 4 feet of rod/hanger space and separate dresser with drawers. Club Lux has an Ikea wall unit with shelves and hangers, but whole unit Is maybe 3 feet wide. Pool area and pool. The Carriage House is more of a quaint resort set up. There is a large beach style social hut with several tables and some bar stools with ledge looking over the pool. The tanning/lounge chairs has space allowing for more than 2 side by side, while giving spaces/areas for fewer chairs. The water was clear w/o debris at both. Club Lux has maybe a quarter of the lounge or table chairs available and 4 separate smaller sections with no hut with 2-3 small round patio tables total with small umbrella that you need to keep adjusting. Total ‘useable’ area around the pool is again about four times larger at Carriage House. Housekeeping, both are about equal except for 2 items. Club Lux I clearly love their shampoo over Carriage House for it just seems lighter and fresher. Carriage House the floor once done seemed much cleaner with a brighter shiny finish. The office staff at Club Lux is inconsistent. Sometimes at mid-morning the office is still empty, maybe no check outs, but still, no one on site to talk to for anything, other than housekeeping who calls them. Carriage House staff has always been in office, or on site from 845-5. Both made accommodations for evening arrivals. Both office staffs have worked with me for reservation bookings. And one day my flight was delayed and eventually cancelled and Carriage House stayed in contact until I ended up arriving the next day. In one of my recent stays in April at Carriage House the Wifi was spotty, but they said it was an AT&T issue and there was an AT&T truck on site the day I was leaving. I returned 3 wks later for a week and Wifi flawless. The cable at both are the same, AT&T. Both have allowed early check in, held luggage for later departure, and allowed use of property during later departure. I have not seen bugs in either locations. Club Lux has digital room entry locks where Carriage House has room keys. Today I prefer the digital lock just to not have to remember/carry a key. Digital code can be texted to your phone. Over the past few years I have gone with the cheaper rate back and forth, but maybe after the extended COVID absence, I tried both in 2021 and will only choose Carriage House even when sometimes a few dollars more.
