Beware The Bates Motel. Avoid

Beware this hotel. More like the Bates Motel. Grubby. Stained pillows. Torn bed sheet. Kettle full of old water. Walls paper thin. Only good features were it was warm and clean bathroom. Rooms like old campsite chalets Took £10 deposit off us in case we stole anything. Nothing worth taking. I had to sleep on top of the bed, I wouldn't get in. Do yourself a favour, pay a little extra for somewhere nice.
Excellent value for money

We had a wonderful time. There was some noise from other guests on Saturday night but a quick call to reception meant this was quickly sorted. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Everyone couldn’t do enough to help us. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Saturday 11th September 2021 my wife and I booked a room in this hotel, £113, as it as the only hotel room available as there was a horse racing meeting on. When we arrived it was a young man that checked us in and when asked if the price included breakfast he very sarcastically replied NO IT IS LEGER WEEK. When we got into the room it was dark and dingy. The bed linen was clean and the bathroom passable. We found a pair of dirty ladies panties down behind the heater, they had obviously been there for a while as they were covered in dust. The carpet was filthy. When I took the ladies panties to reception the young lady there stated our cleaner never usually miss things like that, and offered us a drink on the house as compensation.
(Other than excellent receptionist) - Disappointing.

Walls were paper thin - pillows were emaciated and tiny. Too much noise from car-park. Property uncared for - In need of complete refurbishment - too far from City Centre and facilities. No food available (outside of breakfast).

I can't really complain too much because the room I ended up in was in a great location and nice and quiet and the price was really great, tho the duvet was very thread bare and there was no towels when I entered the room and could not get a signal on the tv. The first room I was in there was an horrible sewage smell, and managed to change rooms. I felt like I was on a keep fit session with all the walking about I had to do to get things sorted
