Wait for the Renovation

The room needed work. The sink backed up and the air conditioner/heater made loud sporadic clicking noises. The carpet was torn and should have been taped to prevent tripping. We informed the front desk and they didn't seem to care since the hotel was being renovated. The sink and floor could easily be addressed while waiting for the renovation. The workout room was well stocked and all the equipment worked.
Close to 7-Springs!

We visited for a ski trip. Love the lodge feel of this hotel. The pool and hot tub were great. It’s very close to 7-Springs. The only downside was it was noisy. There was some loud groups surrounding us that made it hard to sleep. There are some food options nearby.
Good accomodations for a one night stay

Front desk people were pleasant and helpful. Room was clean. Breakfast was plentiful particularly for a Friday morning. It ends a bit early for our schedule, but the atmosphere was pleasant and the wait staff kept everything stocked....although there weren't really that many of us to attend to. :) Some people have complained about the 'atmosphere' (the taxidermy animals) It wasn't over the top and kept with the 'lodge decor' that they were aiming for. I am an animal 'activist' but it didn't make me cringe (well the cougar kind of but....) overall a pleasant experience. But....and big but....do NOT take their recommendation to go to the Brady Family Restaurant down the road. omg. ick. (partially our fault, we asked for a mid-range restaurant). save your $ and go to McD's. Or spend the big $$$ ($35-45/entree) and go to Out of the Fire. Go to the General Store down the road on the way to Falling Water. It's cute. FW is only a 20 -30 minute trip. Drive past it to Ohiopyle and stop to eat at the Falls Market Restaurant and General Store. Great lunch across from the bridge and falls. 5- minutes back to FW.

This hotel is old and decorated with stuffed wild animals. When we checked in we received a room on the first floor behind the front desk, next to the laundry room. Room 110. We asked if this room would be quiet. NOT!! During the night, the laundry dryer vent turned on and off outside of our window. Plus and airconditioner for something ? , not our room, kept starting up and turning off. We could hear the man at the desk talking. When my husband spoke to the desk attendant in the morning she said we haven't had any complaints about that room in 2 years, we don't usually give that room out. What? I did send this information to the hotel management after we checked out with no response.

My wife and I enjoyed an overnight stay at the Holiday Inn Express. The staff was welcoming, the room was clean and comfortable and we grabbed a quick breakfast before the smooth check-out experience. Recommended if your travels bring you to Donegal.
