We love Choice hotels and try to stay in them on our travels. This was the only Choice hotel in Douglas. The room, 111, was ok. Yes only ok. It presented a musty smell when we first went in but the ac seemed to help with that. Repairs in the room needed repairing. The paint job was something definitely amateurish; bleeding of colors into other colors. Broken tiles were either still broken or on overload caulking. The towel bar was definitely an a mature fix. See the picture. I could have done better. I didn’t take a shower because the shower head was NASTY. A little CLR could help with that (see pic). If this hotel was “remodeled” in 2015 as stated in one response it truly needs it again. The sign outside still states breakfast every morning but the signs in the door state Due to Covid... but there was not even a coffee maker in the room. When I called to determine if there was a working ice machine I had to listen to the front desk person argue with another customer before he got back to me. WTH? At least the beds appeared to be clean. But No I would not recommend this hotel unless it was an emergency and last resort. Guess you get what you pay for.

I have been coming to Douglas on business for several weeks. I chose Econo Lodge because of the low price...you get what you pay for! I have tolerated the smell and lack of cleanliness because I had been given the same room and simply got use to it. Plus, I always brought an abundance of cleaning supplies to clean the room before any of my items touched anything in the room! Unfortunately, I had to book reservations at a different hotel going forward after I was given a different room (because of a leak from the toilet) that shockingly was so much worse than the one I had been given for weeks prior. The sofa needed to be set on fire and tossed far, far away; the shower curtain had what looked like black mold all over it; the yellow brick wall at the front door had what looked like dried up wet dirt drippings; the bed had stains; the rack with hangers was completely torn off the wall on one side so I couldn’t hang up anything; and, the ceiling looked to be wet and discolored probably reeking of mildew and mold. I took this almost personally, because I thought I had a good rapport with staff over the weeks; and for them to put me in such a disgusting room really baffled me. Not to mention, I had just given this hotel a great review days prior to returning to stay in a room that needs to be condemned.

It’s very hood! The bed sheets had holes in them. Hair was on the sheets. It was just plain out nasty. I wouldn’t recommend. The price they are asking is ridiculous for the way the rooms look. If you can afford to go somewhere else please do.
Not Favorably Impressed!

The hotel did not seem to have a lot of occupants, but we were sent to a very inconvenient "poolside" room. It seemed like we couldn't have been further away from where we parked our car. Unfortunately it had rained earlier and there were huge slippery puddles in the open stairway hallway that we had to walk through on the way to our room. I wanted to get ice and I noticed that something sticky was on the plastic ice bucket liner bag so I had to return to the desk through the puddles. The room ealls and carpeting looked relatively new, but when I looked up at the ceiling there were huge paint flakes hanging down at the end away from the shower head. Breakfast was disappointing. The only juice was undiluted OJ (with no water nearby to add). Waffle machine was not hot enough so our waffles were semi-raw, no other hot food except toast/bagels. No yogurt, no decaf, no creamer (only powdered creamer or while milk), apple jelly only, not even grape, bagels, but no cream cheese. Cereal was limited. Very disappointed in the Choice hotel.
