Drip drying in Duck Key
Reviewed 20 October, 2021
Hawks Cay’s best days are behind it. It’s a little run down (not too bad), but the service sucks. I mean it really sucks. We asked for housekeeping (yes, you have to ask). It never came so I called to get towels. Then my wife called to get towels. Then I called again to get towels. My wife is currently drip-drying which is not bad for me.
The pool bar has no service, but there is a guy making sure you don’t bring your own drinks in.
I’ll get back to you about the towels.
I have a love/hate relationship with this place

The location is beautiful. The grounds are immaculate. The hotel is understaffed but the people who work there are super friendly, even when the service is slow. It's not cheap, which I wouldn't mind if the resort had everything you expect from a high dollar place. It's the little things that are most annoying... no hand soap in our villa despite being in the middle of a pandemic... a broken handle on the microwave... a diswasher in the villa but no dishwashing detergent... the list of kitchen utensils missing is too long to list... no place to eat a decent breakfast in the morning... $3.50 for a cup of coffee in the market.
We stayed here a few years ago after it was rebuilt following a hurricane. Had a lot of the same issues then. Wrote it off as the resort having been closed for months, however, here we are and the same issues persist. I really like the location, the grounds, and the views. It has the potential to be fantastic. It's just not there yet.

From the minute we stepped on property every staff member was 5star. First off friendly bellman helping us get organized when our room wasn’t ready and then took our family of 10 all around on golf carts. The last day we met employee Chris Godwin which had the best customer service I’ve ever witnessed and did his job with a smile…. Even when working overtime due to short staffing issues. He was so pleasant to meet and made our little time away from kids so fun! Overall, so much to do Hawks Cay for young kids!
Overrated. Service absent. Thin walls.

Website looked like they had tons of activities. They are outsourced and the entire month was already booked with no availability for what we wanted to do. Kids everywhere. They made it sound like it was a place for adults. Kids in the 21+ area. Food options slim. $23 cup required to have a soda. Free refills, but still - soda for every meal? Oh and the food place closes at 7PM if you wanted to make use of it at night. When we asked front desk for help about snorkling they seemed inconvenienced and just handed us a brochure for another company. Dolphins in pen are pretty. Palms are gorgeous. Guys smoking cigars in the lagoon while kids swim. Can hear every single word of our neighbors--what she plans to put in her purse, when their flight leaves, reading the spa brochure. Not a high quality resort feel. Big fancy lobby and pretty landscaping, but disappointments abound. Lower your expectations and it's a fairly nice place. Expect quality service and a quality room and you'll be disappointed.
