Roaches, Malfunctioning Air Conditioner, Poor Service, Sparking Outlets - UNSAFE ENVIRONMENT

Reported Unresolved Case #351896878. We were given a musty, moldy-smelling room with a broken door handle and a malfunctioning air conditioner upon check-in. They would not allow me to use my digital key and forced me to take room keys. I was told this was because of fraud at their hotel. I tried to work things out with the hotel BEFORE calling Customer Relations, but they were rude and of NO assistance before opening my case. So, after the second night of myself and my 12-year-old nephew, both of us having asthma, not being able to breathe, and I'm still trying to recover from having COVID and the room staying at or above 75 degrees, I called Customer Relations for assistance. Eventually, the hotel moved us to a new room, BUT this room was worse due to a lack of available outlets, outlets sparking, a roach infestation, and a bathtub needing assistance. I had earned and paid for extra points to take advantage of the 5th night free, but I checked out early and booked a two-night stay at a Tru by Hilton hotel (staying an extra day because the room and staff were SOOOOO amazing, and I needed a day to regroup). I didn't even tell them what had happened at Marriott because I was trying to calm down. Oh, and I could use my digital key at Tru by Hilton and do EVERYTHING without needing assistance from the hotel staff. Isn't this why they are available to guests (which helps minimize the risks of contracting the coronavirus that is STILL killing and impacting people's lives)? I tried to resolve this matter at the hotel, through Customer Relations by phone, AND through private messages on Facebook and Twitter - NO ONE wanted to help me during my stay or after. The hotel manager promised me points that I have NEVER received. I am an American Express Platinum Charge Cardholder, American Express Bonvoy Cardholder, and Chase Marriott Boundless Cardholder. I was so distraught by the stay and the lack of assistance, empathy, or care by their employees that I went and stayed at a Tru by Hilton with no issues or complaints. Yes, I checked out early because WHY would I stay in a hotel where roaches could fall on my nephew while he was sleeping, where I had difficulty working, where hotel staff told me if I were given an upgrade, I would be kicked out if other guests needed the room (Andrea) - WHY? Enough was enough. I took pictures and video and sent them by private message to try and get help BEFORE resorting to posting on social media, but they did NOT care. Even though I redeemed my awards points, I earned those awards points and paid for some. I genuinely feel I was penalized because I used my awards points. Although I was encouraged to use them to get the 5th night free, which I didn't receive because I had to leave to have a peaceful night's stay where I could work, and my 12-year old nephew could be at peace to complete his Georgia Milestones and District Assessments so he could graduate from elementary school.


Nice Hotel

Hotel is in a nice area - lots of options around including 24 hour Korean BBQ. Hotel is older, but well-maintained. Gym is nice and sunlit, pool is in the courtyard in the middle of the hotel. Rooms are a good size. Door in our bathroom wouldn't close all the way, had to keep slamming the door and it didn't help much.


Terrible Service

Tried to book a night for my wedding night because we are getting married close by. They refused to book a single night even though they had the room. I had to pay for two nights and when I asked if they could do anything special they just flat out said no. Also, the front desk manager was so rude and insisted that there were no rooms and if I tried to book I would be rejected. When his manager came on the phone she clearly said there was availability they just refused to only book one night. Garbage customer service. Maybe only stay here if you are desperate and want to support profits over people.


Road Trip 2021

We had to make a pit stop since we are driving from Phoenix to South Carolina I have absolutely nothing to complain about. It's a decent good property. Extremely comfortable and clean. The room I stayed in comes with a couch. The remote comes with Netflix which I got tricked. It was closed a lot of restaurants.


BEST weekend ever

we have never been to Duluth, but we came for a wedding.. this hotel was VERY nice EVERYONE working was super friendly.. the GM Donna went out of her way.. to make sure EVERYTHING was perfect.. the front desk staff couldnt of been any nicer, the bistro food was yummy.. loved the patio for the kids to run around on.. sad no pool.. but the fountains are just across the street, cant say enough good... would go bad for sure.. love the location
