More about the hotel
A good place to stay whilst the wife was in Hastings hospital along with the heavy snow
Through lockdown, My wife was due to give birth and she was in the Hastings hospital. Due to the snowy weather it meant there was a risk I could not get to the hospital in time and could of missed our first child being delivered, due to us travelling from eastbourne. It was quite fortunate that the premier inn@ Hastings was literally round the corner from the hospital, and was really handy for me to be able to support my wife and to be there through the birth. The hotel staff was very accommodating in being. Able to extend my stay at short notice for when baby had not arrived- they were friendly and approachable. The room had everything I needed for my stay, which was a bed, bathroom, tv, desk and tea making facilities- what more does one need as an added bonus it was next door to McDonald’s and Sainsbury so I was able to get food out should I need it as due to COVID/lockdown the restaurant at the premier inn was not open and was not serving any food or takeaway options, but a good excuse to have a cheeky McDonalds. Overall a good experience, nice hotel should a pit stop be required or for any of those in a similar situation to what I experienced with needing to visit my wife in hospital... definitely my go to place if I had to do it all again and for any of those future expectant parents or even for anyone just visiting a relative in the hospital- very handy and would recommend
Impressed.
Having stayed in a few premier inns, I must say this was probably one of the better ones. The welcome into the hotel was swift and the covid procedures all seem to be upheld. The bedroom I had was clean and had everything I needed. Throughout the hotel there is covid messages about what you’re able to do/ go and where you aren’t. We went for a dinner in the restaurant in the evening and I must say we received fantastic service and was throughly looked after, especially by Caron, she was brilliant throughout. If I ever find myself in Hastings again I may consider staying here again.
Disappointing
We have stayed here many times but on this occassion we were dissapointed. The armchair in our room was very badly stained on the seat area I asked at reception for this to be changed I was told they didn't have any spares. I informed reception that we were not happy for this chair to be in our room and they asked me to leave the chair outise of our room for them to to collect it which we did. The second chair in our room was also slightly stained and the overall cleanliness of the doom wasn't good. The Brewers Fayre attached to the hotel was very good as usual but again the seating needs attention or replacing. Come on Premier bring the Premier feeling back and please don't blame Covid 19 for your various shortfalls.
Weekend visit
Very disappointing: We arrived to a large skip outside reception full of rubbish. It was still on site when we left two days later. The bedroom was clean and hotel staff were polite and friendly. However the restaurant was dirty and needs upgrading. There were cobwebs, thick dust on some areas and the brass bannisters on the small stairway inside the restaurant looked as if they had not been cleaned in a long time. This is concerning during the current pandemic. Dinner service and food was very good, however breakfast was very disappointing. We queued for ten minutes to be taken to our table although we arrived at our allotted time. We then waited another fifteen minutes for our order to be taken and another twenty minuets for the food to arrive. It was clear that the restaurant was understaffed. We witnessed, one couple leave as they could not wait any longer. They were advised that they would receive a refund from the reception staff. When we asked, our server, did apologies explaining that two staff members had called in sick. I felt very sorry for them as they were working very hard trying to feed the many customers. Most guests were very understanding but when you pay for a service, you expect it to be available. All around us, tables were pilled with dirty crockery, cutlery and napkins. It did not make for a very pleasant experience. Premier Inn's USP is "comfort and quality" but the Hastings hotel did not achieve this. Whitbread need to have strategies in place to support a busy restaurant when staff call in sick. The staff on the ground have to deal with the complaints from guests when things, that could so easily be avoided go wrong.
Comfy stay
Friendly receptionist, clean room, comfy bed. Very quiet (I was in Room 4). Car parking immediately outside. There’s a couple of places to eat next door but choice not great to we went into Hastings for dinner.
