Design hotel located 2 miles from the center of the beautiful city of El Calafate on the shores of the Argentino Lake . The decor of the rooms and common areas combines natural and contemporary elements. Its comfortable rooms, some with stunning views of the lake, include all the services and amenities for a stay full of comfort: large walk-in closets, panoramic views of the lake or the forest (depending on category). Fully equipped with the latest technology, hot tub, minibar, safe, flat screen TV and wireless Internet. *Free outdoor parking, no need to booking. *Extra-bed with surcharge.

Beautiful location, horrible service

I am currently staying at the hotel. My bad experience started with a confirmed airport pickup that never happened. It took nearly 45 minutes to check in with no other customers being served but our group. I confirmed several times that we had a family of 5 adults so one room would need to accommodate 3 persons. Despite repeated confirmations of these arrangements, they were surprised by this request. So, in addition to the lengthy check in process, our room wasn’t ready. Similarly, our Christmas dinner reservation was not recorded (which turned out to our benefit). For some reason, maybe COVID, they require breakfast reservations. We showed up the next morning with no table set for 5 and no staff willing to acknowledge my presence. I took a table for 6 that said it was reserved, thinking it was mine. An argument ensued later with another party who thought it was theirs. I was happy to move but the staff did nothing to set another table. No one else seems to use or comply with the “reservation system”. We had room service lunch the next day. As with the other meals, the food was absolutely awful, the dishes remained outside our room 36 hours later. We also asked for extra pillows and hangers. Got the pillows after asking a second time the next day. No hangers… I could go on and on. A physically beautiful structure in a great setting but horrible service.
Great design, limited service

Located outside the town, overlooking Lake Argentino - very nice views. The hotel is in a very nice modern design, nice lobby, nice restaurant, pol and also the rooms are nicely designed. I recommend to book a lake facing room. The food in the restaurant is ok, both breakfast and dinner are ok, not particularly good (e.g. bread is really bad), but overall ok. The big issue here is service: almost nonexistent. There are no towels at the pool. You always need to ask at front desk. There is no help with luggage when you arrive. They do not offer laundry service and do not help you to sort it out. Etc etc. most of the staff members are friendly but not trained for hotel service, so there is really a lack of service. So if you look for a place with nice design and no service at a good rate, you might be happy, if you prefer good service you might choose another option.
No respect for their customers

I had booked a 5-night stay for in this hotel before the COVID pandemic ( january 2020 ). I payed immediately around € 800 for a stay in november 2020. I have been sending mails ( at least 20 ! ) starting from september! 2020 to all e-mail addresses I could find. We called the reception and finally I got one mail from Paula Airas asking what I had already sent several times. I just asked for an refund or voucher but nobody respons to anything. I had to do this for a 5 week stay in South America with a lot of hotels and flights and all of them managed to refund or delivered a voucher. Design Suites Calafate is the only hotel that does not arrange a refund or voucher, but totally ignores all communication. It is not polite and a total lack of respect for a so called 4-star hotel.

Design Suites were fantastic, location is just out of town, which is a good thing, on an isolated peninsular with spectacular views. Rooms great, staff good and friendly, facilities were excellent. Highly recommend.
Beautiful, peaceful hotel with great views!

I stayed here one night in February. The hotel is quite far from El Calafate main street but it has the nicest views of the lake and the mountains. A taxi can take you into town but I walked in which was like 40-60 minutes. There are sand dunes in front of the hotel which is nice for a little morning trek and then you get down to the lagoon. Reception staff were lovely and let me into the room early, which was great since I had an overnight flight. My room had a lake view, it was breathtaking, I couldn't stop staring out the window. The room was spacious with a nice minibar. Bathroom was really big and well equipped including a hydro bath tub. The rooms have floor heating and when I entered the room it was a sauna and my feet were burning on the floor. The air conditioning was very weak and you can't open the windows so it took a whole day to cool down the room a bit which wasn't ideal and other guests had the same problem. Breakfast was very nice, however you need to book if you want to have dinner. The spa was pleasant with great views again. All in an all, a very pleasant stay apart from the tropical temperatures in the room!
