I would strongly recommend against visiting. I ate here three nights ago. The lamb mains we ordered were still cold/frozen in the middle despite being apparently pre-cooked through. When we sent it back the same plates came back having been microwaved or heated in some way. We decided it wasn't a good place to eat and offered to pay for everything except the mains (which we hadn't eaten). When we said we shouldn't pay for the uneaten small side salad they called the police.. in about 2 minutes of this discussion starting. The chef/owner stood in front of the main door until the police arrived stopping us from leaving. We wanted the situation to end so paid for everything including the salad except the mains. They still made us wait until the police arrived. Once the police arrived we had to deal with the situation of the owner/chef throwing accusations at us (we don't know what they were as only speak basic Spanish). They then decided they wanted us to pay for one of the (uneaten) mains. After broken discussions with them and the police we decided to pay to end the situation out of fear of it escalating and the police feeling the need to arrest us. The policeman seemed to think the situation was ridiculous - holding his head in his hands. I know the story sounds ridiculous but we were polite and calm at all times. It's unbelievable how quickly they called the police. The manager was extremely rude and aggressive. The whole experience very demoralising. Completely over the top. Just not a place anybody should visit if they want good food or a good experience. There's no point you should be served food that is potentially unhealthy then aggressively made to pay for it. I don't normally write reviews. But I really feel the need to warn people against this place.
UNCOMFORTABLE...DO NOT STAY HERE!!!

The room was clean and the view was good. HOWEVER, the owner/manager of the hotel was perennially annoyed! There were CAMERAS or EMPLOYEES constantly monitoring your movements during breakfast or if you wished to sit in the lobby. There was even an outside camera pointing directly into our room...heavens!!! Breakfast was NOT GOOD if you aren't into heavy carbs, and you couldn't even get wine glasses unless you purchased wine from the hotel. Beds were narrow. The bathroom was tiny and shower heads squirted water unevenly in all directions. All in all, unless you enjoy an uncomfortable atmosphere, find another place in El Calafate to stay.
Nice location with awful services. To avoid

I spent 2 hours to have dishes for 8 people. I gave up. Structure and location is nice with theoretical goid potential totally cannibalizef by the services. To be avoided if any alternative is available
Wonderful and welcoming

From the moment we arrived we felt so welcome. The hotel is quaint and beautiful. We arrived in very early afternoon and were able to check in immediately. We had a lovely view of the lake from our room. Our room and bed were very comfortable. There was plenty of hot water in the shower. There is a large patio area which is a perfect place to sit with a cocktail and watch the sunset over Lago Argentina. The staff is very kind and helpful. Breakfast is included and served in the restaurant. It includes scrambled eggs, another hot side dish, cold meats, cheese, cakes, cereal, toast, juice and coffee. For an extra fee you can also eat dinner there or get a box lunch to take on an excursion. It is only a ten minute walk into town for restaurants and shopping. It costs about 400 pesos to take a cab from the hotel to the airport 15 minutes away. We thoroughly enjoyed our 4 nights here and highly recommend staying here.
Cozy and lovely

The hotel is lovely, like a cabin in the mountains. It has a small, cozy bar/lobby and a terrace with spectacular views. Our room was small but clean and comfortable and our kids room, which was a triple, was very spacious. The service was very good, we ordered "viandas" or a lunch box for our day tour and it was very well packed and delicious. Breakfast was scrabbled eggs, a kind of sausage in a tomatoe sauce, bread, juice and cereals. The hotel is well located, steps away from downtown where all the action is.
