Delightful hotel

Reviewed 28 december, 2019

Our family of 6 greatly enjoyed our stay at this quiet hotel with beautiful views of the natural scenery. The staff is extremely helpful and their English is excellent. We organized all of our tours through the hotel with a lovely and friendly lady by the name of Cecilia. Imanol was also particularly helpful giving us great restaurant recommendations. We would certainly recommend this hotel even though it's location is just outside of the main town (El Calafate)

Nice hotel a little out of the city.

Nice hotel with good views of Lake Argentina. Clean and well maintained. Rooms slightly smaller but plenty good. Bathroom had excellent water pressure and hot water so be careful. We really enjoyed the breakfast actually the best we have had in Argentina to date. Short taxi ride to the downtown between 200 and 300 pesos. Water was safe to drink. Very enjoyable stay. Room was slightly hot but open the wi down and it cooled off nicely. Wifi erratic and very slow but usable with just a little patience. We would stay here again.

Delightful hotel

We recently spent three nights at this delightful hotel. It is situated about a mile and a half from the town centre but this isn't a major problem because visitors are collected from the front door for excursions and a regular shuttle service runs to and from the town during the evenings, free of charge. If you feel energetic you can walk to or from the town along the Front, a 40 minute walk, observing many wild birds in the process. Breakfast choices are plentiful and good packed lunches are available at a reasonable price. The bedrooms are a reasonable size, very clean and well serviced. The free wi-fi works well. The reception staff were very pleasant, helpful and efficient. They all spoke good English. We bought some local soaps from the cabinets in the foyer and the lady at reception wrapped them beautifully for us. They were priced at 2.70 pesos, compared to 3.00 or 3.20 in the town centre. The views of the lake from the rear bedrooms are very attractive. We would happily recommend this hotel with its relaxed, friendly atmosphere.

Great place to stay. Very quiet, excellent for sleep. The hotel provides a shuttle to the city. Simple breakfast, but good.big rooms, comfortable beds. Considering the price is an awesome place to stay.

I highly not recommend this hotel!

We booked a room in the hotel through booking.com in November 2018 to come in February 2019 (taking into account the high season with decreasing rooms availability and constantly increasing prices). The reservation was confirmed and we bought airplane tickets and came to South America in February. And could you just imagine our disappointment when we received from the hotel an email with the cancelation of our reservation a day before our visit (while we were after transatlantic flight from Europe and on our way to Patagonia). No options / help were provided by the hotel! Even booking.com didn’t manage to provide us with any help as the resort was overbooked by that time. So we found ourselves in the El Calafate airport with no shelter available, no internet, no English speaking people around and no support - all thanks to Rochester El Calafate. Which you not to have such an experience ever. Unfortunately I don’t know how to protect ourselves from such not decent hotels further (thou even booking.com cannot insure from it), but at least I could advise you not to deal with the Rochester hotel!
