Good value for money - a little plain and a little far from the center

Rooms were tidy and clean - however restaurant area had spiderwebs almost everywhere. Reception staff was very unattentive compared to other hotels. No minibar in the room was a bit dissappointing. Locationwise it is a bit far from El Calafate - but if you have a rental car like we did, it is no problem - hotel also provides shuttle service. The views from the hotel are breathtaking - great views of Lago Argentino!!! All in all, I think this hotel gives good value for money, but could easily do few things to be a lot better.

Um, NO!

We booked this reservation in August for a stay in January. We intentionally picked this hotel for the advertised view of the lake and what looked like would be a comfortable stay at the end of two weeks of backpacking. The hotel confirmed an upper floor with a lake view in a quiet space. When we got there we were on the lower floor next to the lobby which meant we dealt with lobby noise and foot traffic for the entire stay. Our lake view also included the driveway, the sidewalk to the lobby and a low view of the water. Everyone who walked by had a nice view into our room. When we brought this to the attention of management they told us there was nothing they could do because other people were already booked into the upper floors. I find it very hard to believe that everybody on the second floor booked in earlier than August. Had we known that they were not able to fulfill their promise, we would have found a location with a better view closer to town. After asking a second time they did offer us an upstairs room overlooking the parking lot and garbage areas. Awesome. The door lock was broken so unless we actually locked it from the inside, our door swung open. The noise from the lobby carried into our room at all hours and I actually had to call the front desk at 11:00 PM to ask them to turn down their muzac so we could sleep. Upstairs guests seemed to be practicing for the international clogging competition all night. Warm breakfast items such as eggs were cold. Not just lukewarm...cold. Safety/health issue?? This was supposed to be a nice ending to our trip by staying in what was advertised as a great hotel with a wonderful view. Disappointing for sure. Never again!

Basic Hotel- has seen better days

First, the goods points, it was clean, the staff was great and will help you carry the luggage up the stairs, and it had a nice view of the lake. The Bad- carpets were worn, there was a lot of water damage on the walls, you need to take a cab to go anyplace, there is no AC(not sure that is common in Calafate), breakfast was on the poor side, the spigot on the coffee urn was broken, the handle on the toaster was broken, the eggs were watery and rubbery.

Nice hotel, beautiful location

You don't have to leave the hotel to see patagonia, the Argentina lake is right in front of the hotel. For Argentina, this is a good quality hotel for a fair price. They also have shuttles to the centre, so don't Worry about the distance. A cab will cost you about 5 dollar one way if you wanna go on another time.

Amazing views, lovely staff

I stayed here for about a week. The view of the lake is absolutely stunning and one you won't find at most hotels in the area. I had the mountain side view. No its not an impressive view but I was just in my room to sleep so didn't mind. Rooms are very spacious. The only downsides were you can hear your neighbors through the walls (but this has been the same at every budget hotel I've stayed in and ear plugs solve the problem! Also everyone is doing early morning tours and it was quiet after 10pm.) There are several free taxi shuttles into the city each day, or you can walk in about 25 minutes. Easy and safe. You can get basic food for dinner like salad pizza and spaghetti. Staff was really nice.
