Outside of the well-kept facilities, I can say unequivocally that it’s the staff that makes this property shine. GM Shane provides great leadership among the excellent staff of manager Kimanda, excellent front-desk member Dale, maintenance guru Saul, housekeeping staff Brenda, Maria and all the others. Bravo Shane and Team. Thanks for great guest service above the call of duty!
Office park hotel near highway

Quiet location in an office park, surrounded by several other extended stay properties. Hot water was out 2 days during my stay and there was smoking happening on my floor. But my room was really comfortable and great for a long stay. Not a walkable location - a car is necessary. Tons of parking available.
Handy location, cheerful staff, spacious & clean rooms, quiet & everything worked, good bed & linens

We stayed two nights for an area wedding. The location was good, the price was right, the staff pleasant. In addition, despite proximity to BWI and a busy road, was very quiet - couldn't hear ANY plumbing noises and only minimum footsteps from above. The room was spacious and clean while the bed was extremely comfortable and the linens great. KUDOS! The shower was easy to operate with plentiful hot water. The kitchen seemed well equipped although we didn't actually cook there (good sized frig with normal freezer). However it was rather shabby and forlorn looking. The toilet paper holder had "left the wall", one of the living area lamps didn't work, the sofa had replacement cushions that neither matched the rest of it nor were high enough to prevent a real struggle to get back on your feet AND the chair was not only worn but ripped and pulling off the back (like the furniture in the common area). I felt compelled to place a towel over the back of the chair because it was too sad to look at. So there were pros and cons. You got a lot for your money but this is by no means a top-tier property. If your priorities are limited to: 1) clean, 2)spacious, 3) good bed & plumbing, 4) quiet, 5) good location 6) easy & free parking, 7) reasonable price, and 8) pleasant staff, this is for you. The breakfast is included but is an unexceptional "Grab and Go" due to Covid and the pool closes at 6 p.m. so we could never enjoy it. Everything is a trade-off.
Always A Pleasure

Sonesta ES Columbia, Md. is always very clean, the rooms are spacious, the beds are comfortable and the kitchen is a great plus. The key to our pleasant stay was the efficient, pleasant and professional staff under S. Brown's leadership which is top notch. We always enjoy our extended stay.

Booked two Sonesta hotel rooms Mmore than 1 month in advance for upcoming Jazz Festival at Merriweather Post. Unfortunately, Sonesta hotels was not very sympathetic for canceling my booking only 4 days before my arrival.
I was told that the hotel overbooked guests for that weekend. It's hard to believe that the hotel was overbooked for all three of my nights. Furthermore, it was even stranger that a reservation made over a month in advance was selected to be canceled. The late cancellation made it hard to book another hotel due to the 5 to 7 day hotel policy for returning your money.
When questioned about this policy a Sonesta representative offered a booking at a neighboring Sonesta property for double my original price.
I used various Sonesta properties in the past. Therefore I was surprised by this treatment. The third-party hotelengine.com felt compelled to at least offer me $25.00 worth of points that could be used for my next booking. Meanwhile, Sonesta was unapologetic towards any disruption caused by the hotel cancelling my booking.
I am not sure if Sonesta's statement about cancelling my booking is true because it doesn't make sense. The excuse that they usually cancel third party reservations first would make since if the reservation was made a week before the overbooking was discovered. Surely there were numerous reservations made after mine.
It would have been more believable if the Sonesa representative informed me of the truth. Sonesta saw an opportunity to make more money by canceling reservations made in advance at lower rates. It was never about a third-party because upon accepting your money Sonesta should treat you more like a valuable customer.
I ask that anyone who uses Sonesta remember this experience and make sure to voice your displeasure in regards to company policies. Sonesta should be held to the same standard as their customers. Customers must cancel reservations within given timeframes or face company imposed fines. Therefore I ask why is Sonesta not held to the same standard?
Clearly overbooking flights and hotels are industry standards for insuring maximum profits. However, unlike hotels, airlines usually offer later flights, discounts and possible hotel stays for missed flights. Sonesta on the other hand did not seem to care about inconveniences caused by their overbooking.
