Going back in time......in all the very best ways.

I am a truck driver and travel all across this beautiful country of ours. I occasionally have some time when I am waiting on loads so I will find a hotel where I am able to park my truck, do some laundry and take a hot shower. Man, did I overachieve with my latest hotel choice……Quality Inn in Ennis, TX. I went on apple maps and looked for hotels near me and then looked on different sites for reviews of the local hotels. The Quality Inn was rated very high….and I can verify that most of those reviews rating this hotel in the 9.4 range are doing this hotel a injustice. Quality Inn is very fortunate to have this property in their portfolio. The hotel is run by a fine gentleman from Ennis named Rudy. Rudy and his family are the most wonderful people. Rudy has owned and managed this property for 36 years! The service is first class….its like you are part of the family. Having grown up in the 1960’s, this hotel is run like it is 1960……and I mean that in the very best way. Excellent service and very friendly…..like they are glad you are here. More specifically, they run it like they love doing what they do. When I was younger, I would go to stay with my grandparents. Thats the feeling it gave me. It is like you are staying at their house, not their hotel. The entire family runs the hotel and they provide excellent service, hospitality and very nice rooms. The breakfast is great, especially the waffles. The location is awesome……restaurants and Walmart Supercenter all within walking distance. They keep the grounds in immaculate condition. There is a pool and a Jacuzzi that is cleaned every day. There is a sitting area that is built around a 36 yr old Oak tree that Rudy planted himself. It is just such a comforting and peaceful place to be. You aren’t a number like when you stay at some of the larger chains, you are a person with a story. If I am ever within 30-40 miles of this hotel, I will make the drive to stay here. And I would recommend that you do to. It really is a special place. Truck drivers; pull into whataburgers parking lot and back all the way to the back of the hotel. There is a gravel lot big enough for 4 tractor trailers.
Nice and clean!

There was a super nice lady at the front desk. The rooms were very clean. The bed was comfortable. The recliner in my room was great. It’s comfortable and lays back far enough to catch a nap if you want to. There are restaurants very close, within walking distance. Facilities look a little dated but that’s never interfered with my sleep so it doesn’t matter. It was also very quiet. Good place. Homemade waffles and sausage for breakfast along with other assorted items. 👍🏼
Not what I was looking for

I am a little disappointed- I always check ratings and this one had a good one but... the sheets had black smudges on them, the bedding was old. The smell- oh my! So musty and old. I felt like it was a blast from the past. The wallpaper and popcorn ceilings had cobwebs hanging from them. I gave them 1 star because I at least had warm water. Oh and at 2:00am my husband had to go get new keys because the initial ones were coded wrong. I can not recommend.

Heading to The NHRA Races

This is one race that I really like to attend although I don't do it every year. I took a break at this location as I had arrived a few days earlier than the races started, and one of my favorite amenities is a hot tub and bingo I struck it lucky as that was on the list here at Quality Inn! The staff were super friendly and the room very clean as was the hot tub. I recommend this to anyone traveling in this area. Safe travels to all!
