I will be attending a major conference at the nearby conference facility in May. This conference had been rescheduled from February... I booked on booking.com at a reasonable rate, I have just been informed that the hotel listed its rate incorrectly and they are adjusting my rate from 70 euro to 200 euro per night. To me it sounds like they only recently realized the conference dates changed... The hotel should honor the originally contracted rate. Not cool.
Very Very Poor!
If you like the places you stay to on the unusual or challenging side, this place is for you. I can't even use the word "hotel" because that would be an unfair description. It's more like a cross between AirBnb and a hostel. The entire experience is disappointing; appalling check-in with amateur local phone service (there is no onsite reception), grey walls, bedrooms across three upper floors but no lift, the heating not turned on in the rooms (this is a real DIY spot!), the rooms are dusty, and the shower takes about 15 minutes to warm up. All in all, this place is poor. At €30 a night it would be fine, but their rates are similar to other hotels in the area who offer much much better value! This is a place of last resort.
Not much for the money
.... for the money charged, you don't get too much. Rooms were very clean but fairly bare. No English TV. WiFi only in bar area. Very noisy on Friday night. I couldn't sleep until after 3 when cafe winds down
Friendly Staff, Comfy beds and great breakfast
I stayed there part of my solo trip. A friend of mine was stayind there for two weeks or so. The staff and administrator were really friendly, the bart tenders as well. Cleanning service impecable but the best of this hotel is breakfats specially in easter they have an extense menu with various offers of different kinds of foods and free of charge for that holiday. It was a great stay, I will definitively go back cause of the people that works there. The tv size can be improved a bit. One con: there is no internet in the bedrooms only in the bar/restaurant and lounge.
This is a mean (but clean) hotel
I knew this hotel was mean as soon as I had climbed the 3 flights of stairs (no lift) and seen my room. I had wanted a single room, but there were none left so I agreed to pay for a double. The double bed was two singles put together, but with only one single duvet and one pillow neatly arranged on one side. The other side of the bed was completely bare. This fitted the room though, which was also bare. No curtains, just a grey-white venetian blind (not in full working order) at the window. No armchair, just one small wooden chair and desk. What would a couple do ? Take turns to sit down ? No tea and coffee making facilities, no internet in the room (only downstairs in the restaurant). No extra pillow or blanket. Only one bath towel. Plug broken in the bathroom. Bathroom window not completely frosted and no blind. I felt that I could be seen. It did not feel homely or comfortable. The room and the bathroom were clean though and I give the staff credit for that. There was some noise from a nearby dual carriageway, but I used earplugs and was not disturbed The ultimate act of meanness came at breakfast. The breakfast buffet was poor. On every table was a bottle of water along with the sugar bowl etc. While waiting for my coffee to arrive I took some water. Big mistake. When I checked out they charged me 5,2 Euros for the water at breakfast. (No charge for the sugar though). I have travelled extensively and never met this before. Why is everything free at breakfast, but not water ? I paid Euro 120 (special rate) for the experience.
