A Memorable Stay

The Intercontinental Hotel Estoril-Cascais was excellent from start to finish. We had a few days booked and it was made so much nicer by the hotel staff, who could not do enough for us- so accommodating and friendly. The outdoor pool is fabulous and was really quiet. The indoor pool is within the Spa and Wellness centre. It has a steam room, sauna and gym too. The only negative thing I would say about the hotel was the price of the breakfast. €25 per person for a continental breakfast. We opted for the A La Carte menu which ended up being just as expensive. (A cappuccino was €5.50. Orange juice was €7) The staff at breakfast were very busy and had to be reminded a few times to bring out coffees, juices etc. All in all, it was a fabulous hotel but made all the better by the staff. Well done all.

Wonderful sea view hotel

Delicious breakfast buffet on the outdoor terrace (unbeatable sunrise view), big and comfortable rooms, friendly staff. It's also walking distance from main attractions including the very scenic Boca do Inferno

Relaxing Five-Star Retreat

My husband and I stayed at this wonderful hotel during our honeymoon and it was absolutely wonderful! Beatriz Tacao at the front desk was incredibly inviting and attentive to all of our needs. She took the time get to know us during our check in, congratulated us on our recent wedding, and made some great recommendations for places to check out in Estoril and in Cascais. Throughout our stay she would check in with us to see how our stay was going and if we needed any additional attention to our room or any more recommendations. She was truly a gem! The view from the room was great and the amenities provided were terrific. The breakfast provided is delicious with a wide variety of options for all dietary needs. The breakfast staff was very attentive and willing to accommodate us. The entire staff was also fluent in English which really made us feel right at home. We will definitely be coming back to this great hotel!

Improvements Needed to Achieve InterContential Status

Staff are wonderful, really aim to please the clients. Location is awesome, very good. Some aspects need improvement: Spoke to staff on day one - room was not what we expected (highly impersonal) as people could see into our room ALL DAY. She explained that the deluxe "upgrade" I had PAID for was ground floor only. I explained this was unacceptable as this was not highlighted on the website (my IHG preference states high floor away from lift - I was now on the ground floor near the lifts!) . She offered a further upgrade/move for an extra £80 per night; I declined. She said she would refer to management and get back to me. NOBODY ever got back to me. Information is an issue on your site and staff need to follow matters up when they say they will. Rotten fruit in room is unacceptable (attention to detail). This remained for two days then the rotten parts were removed with the rest left in room! Refer to photos. Bathroom needs attention - shower door does not close and make up mirror needs battery (again, attention to detail). Food poverty is a global issue. There must be a better way to serve breakfast with less wastage? The food is served carte blanche with everybody receiving a basket of rolls and basket of fruit etc. This is mostly uneaten and then taken away (what a waste!). The main breakfast is served to order. Yes, I did make the hotel aware of all issues, and have received a pretty "standard response". I would say this hotel is more towards a 3.75 stars and my wife had swayed me to a 4. However, after the substandard hotel email response, a 3 is more fair! Do not pretend to care, show you care! As a regular traveller with vast experience, I like to think I know what I am talking about.
