Typical hotel stay

I like staying at holiday inn expresses. They always have comfy beds and a decent breakfast. This one was as expected. Good nights sleep in a nice bed. Breakfast was okay. Could of had more selection. We didn’t see the pool area. We arrived about 1 am and the girl that did our check in was not very friendly.

mediocre service & housekeeping. hotel in need of a refresh

When we arrived there was nobody at the desk. There was a sign that said they were helping another customer and would be back soon. We had to wait almost 15 minutes (even after calling) to check-in. The clerk when he arrived didn't acknowledge that we had to wait. In our room there was a used soap in the shower (wrapper in the garbage). One of the lights by the bed didn't work - turned out it was unplugged. There were 2 regular and only 1 decaf coffees. Found a quarter under the chair foot rest (must not have been moved when the room was cleaned). The light-weight curtain was badly ripped. In the bathroom the top of the floor molding was dirty. Tile in the entry way was broken. The air conditioner was noisy and didn't dehumidify the room so that the room felt cold but clamy.

Pleasantly surprised

We had a great stay. I loved the JR Watkins toiletries in the bathroom and that I actually had enough shampoo and conditioner for everyone. Our room was updated and super clean. Front Desk staff was pleasant. We were so happy they were pet friendly.

A convenient place to stay

Our room was clean, but very worn. We have stayed in many HIE's through the years and this place is definitely in need of an update. Lighting was poor in the bathroom and the bedroom. Sofa was ripped in spots and not comfortable. The Grab and Go breakfast was ok...the oranges were rock hard and impossible to eat. Thank good ness for a refrigerator and microwave so we could cook our own breakfast! I realize this is because of COVID 19 and not the fault of the property. The property was very clean overall.

Older charming property

First time ever in Evansville, so I didn’t know what to expect. The location is right off the Lloyd “Expressway” (I use that term loosely), on the western edge of the city. Despite the expressway not exactly being so, it’s not that far of a drive to downtown, maybe ten minutes, depending on traffic and lights. There are several restaurants near the hotel, and a movie theater in walking distance. I arrived early just after 10AM not expecting a room, but George (I think that’s his name), found one and allowed me to check in. He was very friendly and welcoming, a nice start to the experience. On the way up to the room, I notice the place has an older style, possibly 1990s. It’s possible it was something else beforehand. The halls were clean, and so was the room when I did check in. Bathroom is typical size, TV has a decent selection, bed is comfortable, and area is very quiet. The AC does its job keeping the place cool. The only issue is the ever too present weak water pressure found so often in hotels. Breakfast was in grab n go bags, due to the virus. Coffee was available in the room. Pool is the average size, but there is no spa. There was at one time- you can clearly see where it was. Not sure why they took it out of commission. Not sure if my travels will take me to a Evansville again, but if so, I will stay here.
