Beautiful Hotel - Impolite Staff

I recently stayed at herel in Evora, for 2 nights on September 22 & 23. The hotel is absolutely beautiful, we enjoyed our stay immensely, however your front desk associate was the most unpleasant person I have ever run across in all my travels. Catarina was less than helpful and gave the impression that we were inconveniencing her each interaction we had. Most notably, the parking for your hotel in the underground garage is not clearly marked, we parked along the side of the hotel and went in to inquire about hotel parking and check-in. We were a bit early and told we needed to wait, no problem, but when we asked about parking Catarina was difficult at best and gave us a map where she wrote where we had to park – it was wrong. She did not mention the garage and made us turn on a side narrow street where there was NO parking. We stumbled upon the underground garage and confirmed with a stranger that it was the hotel parking. Everything was beautiful about the hotel, but our couple interactions with Catarina would make me think twice about staying here again.....
No longer a 5 stars hotel

I usually come to this hotel every year for a couple of days in August to enjoy the peace of Alentejo. Last year, because of the pandemic I didn’t come but this year we have returned. The hotel lost its touch and it is no longer 5 stars by no means. The pros: - food; - size of the room and nice bathroom; - kind staff. The cons: - overcrowded like I’ve never seen before; - different positioning: clients that scream all over the place in the swimming pool. You cannot rest; - to overcome the shortage of sunbeds in the swimming pool there are new sunbeds of different quality, so now you see a mix of 3 different types of sunbeds with lack of taste; - quality of sleep: mattresses need urgent reform; - last but not least: the overall sense of cleanliness and freshness that you expect from a hotel in covid times is just not there… I believe that the hotel needs to rethink the strategy and positioning if it wants to return to good old days otherwise I think it will only go downhill unfortunately.

Not first time in this hotel, not the only hotel we stayed in Évora, but for sure the best one. Wonderfull swimming pool, lot of green, nice view, good food, huge rooms, super confy and well located. To repeat again soon.

the hotel was completely full in time of pandemic without any respect for the rules of social distancing. breakfast is more of the same, but without any preventive sanitary measures. the rooms are nice but no blackout curtains which is unfortunate in a 5 star hotel.

My boyfriend and I stayed in this hotel for a couple of nights and the experience was great. Nice, big bedroom with a huge king-size bed and open view bath tub and double shower. The hall, the garden, the restaurant are spacious and very well designed, in a mix between modern and ancient decor. Great breakfast as well and super kind staff. The spa unfortunately was not completely accessible due to Covid but we enjoyed a couple of hours in the indoor pool. The hotel is very close to the city center, anyway everything is reachable easily since the city of Evora is pretty small. We will surely go back there!
