Special mention to Callum

Reviewed 12 november, 2022

I’d like to make a very special mention to Callum as people are so quick to review a bad experience, I want to review amazing service! Had an issue with my booking, called and got through to Callum and he couldn’t have been more helpful!! Very professional, clear communication. An absolute credit to the hotel.

Worst experience ever! Avoid

Reviewed 9 november, 2022

As a keen traveller I’m used to various grades of hotel and don’t shy away from budget options. We chose the Buckerell Lodge Hotel because they were the only hotel in Exeter we found with a 24hr reception. We travelled late at night and after a six hour coach ride and arriving at 2am we were looking forward to getting our heads down. However we were told at arrival that our room was double booked and our room was now occupied. The only room available was a twin not a double which seemed acceptable until we realised the room was not cleaned after it’s previous guests. The bed sheets hadn’t been changed in days, all towels were dirty and laying on the floor, the bin was over flowing, dirty cups, no toiletries or toilet paper and a strange sticky stain on the carpet. At such a late hour we had no choice but take what was offered. I could have quite easily overlooked the faded carpets, chipped paint work, lack of heating and general shabbiness of the place but can’t forgive the terrible management and lack of concern for guests.

Avoid this hotel

Reviewed 8 november, 2022

Avoid this "hotel". The so called "4* hotel" is probably one of the worst I have ever stayed at. Everything about the place is extremely dated and run down. There is a strong smell of damp throughout and this can be seen on walls and ceilings. The corridors are full of rubbish, dirty dishes and even a full sick bucket! Room is extremely dates and apparently providing 1 pillow is acceptable, a kettle with teas and coffees without mugs! Went to shower and there was no hot water or water pressure. The only saving grace is that the staff are friendly and do try to help. Definitely wouldn't book again!

Dirty

Mould all over the dirty bathroom, toilets not cleaned, sheets didn’t fit bed, bed v uncomfortable, stains on the carpet, noisy disturbed nights sleep and lights in room didn’t work. All in all not impressed. Hotel feels like a dingey rugby club! Not much to be pleased about

The staff were great but the hotel needs investment

Reviewed 5 november, 2022

We were in Europe for three weeks and this was probably the worst we stayed in. I felt sorry for the young people running the place as each time I approached the desk someone was complaining. It must have been a wonderful hotel but needs urgent updates. The heating was off so we were given a portable heater. The breakfast was fine. We could not have supper there so went to he Premier Inn down the road. I do hope the hotel makes a go of it. Room was comfortable. Bed fine. Quiet location. Great place to use as a base. Staff were trying to do their best. Congrats to them.
