Simple pub accommodation, lovely landlady, great breakfast
Opinión escrita el 19 de decembre de 2022
We enjoyed the traditional pub atmosphere in the bar with it being cosy on a cold night with snow outside. Nice warm log fire, Christmas Tree and nice lights all made it very pleasant in the bar. Our bedroom was small (especially the bathroom) but both clean and comfortable for our one night stay. The bed was comfortable with the linen and quilt being cosy and warm. The heating got the bedroom nice and warm once on - the bathroom was very cold. Our big criticism of the bathroom is the ultra small sink - impossible to wash in. Lady running the bar was not very sociable and could have ben more pleasant when we arrived but once the landlady came down to meet us she was extremely nice and helpful. Her partner plus the customers were great. We only had breakfast which was very good and filling - freshly cooked and value for money. Overall - basic pub accommodation, clean and good for an overnight stay. We would stay again

Sink in room very small , not big enough to wash in or fill kettle up . Cups were old fashioned and not very clean underneath. Beds comfortable but my sheet torn and so had to ask for replacement. However Staff were lovely and obviously trying hard to update Pub .

We booked a couple of hours before arriving, they removed a camp bed as they opened the door to our room. A small fan available that had a 120 min timer so obviously we had to wake through the night and keep switching it back on as a very hot day/eve. One tea bag left for the room and the kettle didn’t fit in the sink to fill it.. we used our own mineral water to fill kettle, tv had no channel available and the shower sprayed more water out behind the shower head than through it! The pump for the shower was so noisy we worried for the other occupants ! We left our meal half way through as some unruly occupants entered the public house and I was not comfortable with my daughter witnessing what was about to unfold! The bar tender and his wife I believe were very polite and we understand they can’t control the people that walk in but we felt uncomfortable and retreated to our room.

Excellent accommodation, friendly staff and owner was delightful. The room was clean with great bathrooms and amazing shower. I had an evening meal which was very good a very good value. This is a superb place to stay if you are in the area. It's convenient for main roads but in a quiet area.

Stayed here for a night on Halloween weekend. Everyone working there couldn't be more warm and welcoming! I had breakfast and a lunch. Both were superb and well cooked. I'd struggle to find anywhere else to have a sunday lunch now. Will definitely be paying another visit soon!
