Good price for a one night stay

Reviewed 11 april, 2022

Nothing exceptional about this motel, but we needed a room for one night and on our way. We were just looking for a cheap place to stay due to limited funds. The bed seemed comfortable enough, but nothing compares to home.

Straight outta 'Fargo'

If you have watched the movie Fargo, you may want to know if some of the murders took part at this motel. I have 140 reviews on TA so far and this might be my first 1-star review. I tolerate the occasional stain here and there, and slow wifi, but this place is something else. When I first arrived, there wasn't anyone at the front desk. Waited for 10-min and left. Came back later and the person treated me like he's doing me a favor. Didn't point to where my room would be (and seemed irritated when asked). I entered the room and wondered what has actually happened in that room. But do I actually want to know? The furniture looked antique-y (in a bad way), like once upon a time, this used to actually be a Grand Inn. The bathroom fixtures were falling apart, the sink and tub were peeling, and some of the lights didn't work. I bet a UV light and luminol would illuminate the carpet and the bed more than the actual lights. The floor next to the pillow smelled like urine. The motel charges $10 for pets. HA! Like, what can a pet actually do so the room gets worse? They should pay me $10 because my dog gets to walk barefoot on the carpet. Ew. Once you lie down on the bed contemplating what you have done in your past lives to voluntarily pay money to stay here, you will notice the large stains on the ceiling. What happened? And when did that happen? Is that related to the large punch-like hole on the bathroom door? Next day, I gathered all my things including the dog in one go because I didn't want to ever see the room again. Some stay at ghost hotels because they want to experience horror, but you can just stay here instead for less money.

Good value for the money

Reading other reviews makes me think we just stayed at a good time. Nothing fancy here but the beds were comfortable, the shower fine and the breakfast adequate. The room was clean and the refrigerator was welcome. No sign of insects, or unhygenic practices. Staff not always available but helpful when needed. What more do you need for a one night stay?

One word - BEDBUGS!

Reviewed 8 july, 2018

All I need is a clean, cheap bed and bathroom and I'm pretty much happy. I have dealt with leaky faucets, noise, smoky rooms, bad breakfasts and even a stain here and there without much grumbling. However, the ONE thing I cannot take are BEDBUGS. And there was a big one. Right under the pillow. We took it to the front desk, where the guy snapped a pic of it and casually tossed it in the trash, without even killing it. The room change was little comfort. While I'm at it.....the breakfast. Again, I don't care if it's just a few pieces of bread and coffee, but the bread was kept in plastic storage containers without any tongs. Open 6 packs of bagels just sat on the counter, along with used jam containers. Visions of bedbugs and shady characters sharing the food sent us running out of the kitchen. It simply looked unhygienic. It was the cheapest option in Fargo. I see now it is also ranked last out of 50. I never really reviews too seriously, but lesson learned.

My first ever 1-star review

Reviewed 22 october, 2017

The motel is a little bit difficult to access from the main road. There was some leak (possibly from the toilet)? that kept my bathroom floor damp. The room was of good size, the refrigerator and microwave oven were pleasant surprises. There were a number of other guests who were loud; an odor resembling marijuana smoke was prominent in some sections of the hallway. The staff were courteous, but not otherwise overtly helpful. The free breakfast was limited to 2 types of cereal, toast, bagels, milk and 2 types of juice.
