Arquitectura excepcional, buena comida, naturaleza y tranquilidad.

We had booked a two night stay at the Colmeal Country Side Hotel. Upon our arrival after having fulfilled the Covid19 rules we were warmly welcomed. Our room was fine and had everything we needed, a good bathroom and a comfortable bed and a huge terrace. In the morning we could enjoy a delicious breakfast with fresh homemade bread, fruit juice, in short, all products come fresh from the Quinta. We have also been able to enjoy the in-house restaurant twice, which was run by a young chef who knows his way around, with time we see him obtain an Michelin star for his exquisite cooking. A heartfelt thank you to the young but very skilled chef, also to the staff Mister Rui in charge of the management, and always ready to answer any questions, and to do everything possible to make your stay as pleasant as possible . We also like to repete that everything is home-made, even the excellent house wine, of which we have of course stored a good stock. There is also the possibility of sauna, wellness, outdoor swimming pool, bicycle rental, in short too much to write everything down, it is best to personally get to know the hotel and its offers, this is the best experience.
Peaceful and unusual

We came to the area to see the rock carvings, and found a beautiful and peaceful region. The Colmeal hotel perfectly suits the lovely Coa valley. A most unusual design and sympathetic renovation, the grounds too will be fascinating when sorted.
Our room was spacious and comfortable with views to the hills (over which the sun rose,) and ancient terraces.
Hardly any guests in March; the trade off for such peace and privacy was the restaurant was not fully staffed. So we didn’t get to choose from their menu, sadly, (having looked online when booking) but had acceptable menu du jour, and lovely wine and starters of local olives, cheeses and dried ham.
The breakfasts, on the other hand, were quite superb, just about the best we have ever had, even compared to some in Scotland last year and that is saying something. Homemade yoghurt, beautiful strawberries, local honey, local bread, home made cakes and top quality cheeses and hams, plus eggs cooked to order.
Our host was friendly and professional and hugely knowledgeable about the area.
We hope to return one day to the land of silence, and see how the unique project that Colmeal is, has developed.
New Year Eve Party
Opinión escrita el 1 de Enero de 2019
We went there as a large group. The hotel were marvellous hosts. The food was excellent. I particularly liked their chocolate mouse! It is a most! The chef was very attentive. He would even come out to ask us how the food was. They prepared a lovely dish for New Years Eve. The rooms were very nice, warm and clean. The price for us was reasonable for everything we got. The rest of the staff were also very friendly and attentive. I highly recommend this hotel if you are in the region or just want a short break!
