Motorbike tour

Reviewed 4 september, 2019

Firstly it was a perfect location for our motorbike tour with excellent motorbike parking facilities . Bikes were able to be undercover I prefer 4/5 star hotels but none are available in FlorAc that I could find. Cost for two in bedroom with shared terrace and breakfast was 101 euros. We were greeted by a friendly gentleman on reception. Gardens are lovely as is it’s pool. Location is excellent a minutes stroll from centre ville. Breakfast was very basic not large choice ...coffee was an espresso machine. Room was clean . My husband slept well but then he can sleep upright on a Ryanair flight!! I slept badly. Found bed uncomfortable and hate the one option sausage pillow .... I would summarise that we got what we paid for .... I’d happily pay more for more luxury but if you want good location clean and basic and reasonable this is the hotel for you .lots of bikes there from Germany NL France and our English bikes

Nice enough hotel and location shame about the manager/owner

Reviewed 19 august, 2018

Stayed her for 3 nights. On arrival was met by the hotel manager/owner who greeted us with a less than welcoming reception. He seemed mainly interested to know if we would be leaving early in the morning and we had to inform him we were booked in for 3 nights. No real information given about the hotel, just pointed in the direction of the Annexe where our allocated room was. He then told us we couldn't leave our car parked where it was (it wasn't blocking anyone's access to the building or preventing people from accessing/moving their cars in the car park) but we did as we were asked. A few minutes later we discovered that he had allowed someone else to park in this space and every day after this it was always used as a parking space. Returned to the reception to find out about the Wii Fi code and was told there wasn't one. The owner/manager pointed at a piece of paper on the desk and just kept pointing at something on it without any explanation. He gave me the impression that I was being a nuisance. I returned to my room and figured it out for myself. We were allocated at room that was in the process of being refurbished. The bathroom was lovely but the bedroom was very dated. We did at least have a view over the pool. That night when most guests were trying to sleep there was a disturbance down by the pool caused by 3 women who were jumping in and out of the pool, screaming and laughing. After a while another guest called out for them to keep quiet but this had no effect. Another 30 minutes later when this was still going on and it was midnight some of the guests decided to take matters into their own hands to try and get the women to leave the area. This seemed to only agitate the women even more and lead to them becoming even more aggressive both verbally and physically. We tried calling reception but there were no instructions on the phone of which number to dial. We tried several but none connected us to the hotel staff. My partner then made his way over to reception but it was locked up with no security, or member of staff to be seen. Other guests eventually came and opened the reception door and came to try and help. Once back in the room we dialled the main number for the hotel and eventually reached someone (who turned out to be the owner/manager) who told us he had only just got his head down for a sleep 15 minutes ago and had already been informed by another guest about the disturbance. He seemed more worried about having his sleep disturbed than trying to help sort out the problem and protect his guests. When we mentioned calling the police he asked us not to. At this point the police arrived and dealt with the situation. The next morning we went back to reception to speak to the owner/manager about what had happened the previous evening. As we approached the main desk there suddenly appeared a large German Shepard barking ferociously at us. He then ran straight at me barking and salivating as he approached. I was so scared as I thought he was going to attack me. The manager owner did not apologise for what had happened or do anything to make sure I was alright. He only asked me if I liked dogs and when I explained not huge ones like that he told me that lots of French people had dogs. When I had finally calmed my nerves we spoke to him about the events fo the previous evening. His whole body language as well as verbal seemed to indicate that he was more upset and quite angry at being woken early that morning and having to speak to the police about the incident that morning than anything else. I had to ask him what steps had been taken to ensure that the same thing did not happen again. He told me the women had left the hotel. I questioned the security and safety of the guests and why it was left to the guests to sort out the incident whilst he was sleeping. He gave no answer to this apart from saying the women had now left. It was only right at the end of the conversation that he appeared to begrudgingly offer an apology for what had happened. The whole experience did spoil our stay at the hotel and we were happy to leave when it was time for us to move on. The rest of the staff seemed much more friendly and helpful although they seemed to be under the careful watch of the owner/manager in nearly everything they did. Would not return to this hotel unless it was under new management.

Time travel

I’ll do the math again: 5 ⭐️ for the entourage, 5 ⭐️ for the pool, 4 ⭐️ for dinner, 5 ⭐️ for reception, (1 ⭐️ for our room, 3 ⭐️ for our friends room) so 2 ⭐️ for the rooms, 2 ⭐️ for breakfast. We checked in on our way south to the Mediterranean, although quite far from the highway you should take the time of from the race down south! When you go through the gate it’s like you step through a time machine (except for the cars in the parking) it seems you travel back to medieval times. The receptionist was most friendly we (two families) had two rooms one in the main building and one in the other building. Both rooms are old but very very clean I have never seen a hotel room this clean! The first was decorated in style the other had al the furniture it needed.

Old Style, however clean and maintained, right price / quality ratio

The park is certainly the most attracting part of this Hotel. However, despite its old furniture, the used carpets, this place has still a kind of charm. Ask for a room with terrace if available. Breakfast is standard.

Nice place for an overnight stay

Reviewed 2 october, 2017

Traditional hotel with somewhat faded grandeur but not without charm. Good sized room and very quiet at night. Only a hand shower in the bath so keeping water off the floor a challenge. Florac in September and on a Sunday is a bit of a ghost town, and no hotel restaurant. Nice hotel gardens carefully maintained, and some pleasant streets to explore. Wifi connectivity poor.
