We went down for breakfast on our way out today and were greeted by Melinda and Robin. They were both extremely nice and made our morning!!! Couldn't ask for nicer people and a great Breakfast. Thank you ladies!
Shuttle service LOL

The hotel is about 5 minutes away. We called to confirm that we needed the shuttle service the moment we got through the baggage claim. We waited for about 30 minutes. There was no sign of a shuttle bus from the hotel. Called again but the grumpy front desk just told us to wait a little longer. Finally we just call Uber. Avoid this hotel if you can.
A truly bizarre level of "service"

I was referred to this hotel after another IHG hotel cancelled my reservation at the last minute without contacting me (separate review). I therefore called the Crowne Plaza from the airport for the shuttle. I called a total of five times. Each time the phone was answered and I was immediately told "Crowne Plaza, could you hold please?", and then the person put me on hold. Here are my wait times in minutes and seconds before I gave up: 4m30s, 4m46s, 1m32s, 1m41s, and 2m19s. I then called ride-sharing and got myself to the hotel. At the hotel I was attended to by the Asst Gen Mgr, Mathew Perez (per his name tag). I begin with: I called several times for the shuttle, got put on hold and no one ever came back to the phone. Where is it? Who answers the phone? Where is the office? He asked me my name, etc. and looked up my reservation. I then followed up: Where did you say the shuttle was? He says: “I didn't say.” So, he's playing games with me. I follow up and he finally says "We're short-staffed." Ok, so are there any drivers? "We have independent drivers," he says. I can’t get any more information out of him about this shuttle. As he’s finishing the paperwork and giving me the keycards, the phone rings; he answers: “Crown Plaza, could you hold please?” I say I would like to file a complaint with IHQ regarding the service levels at IHG hotels this night, and ask for the phone number. He asks me to look for the "corporate" number online. The final insult was the king-sized mattress. It was completely shot and sagged like a hammock. I moved as close to the wall as possible and tried to sleep on the edge of it. As a postscript, I did contact corporate (twice), was given a case number and assured that someone would call me within 24 to 48 hours. Two weeks later, I am still waiting for that call.
Terrible First Impression

The hotel is very near the airport. We called in once we all cleared with our luggage, and were told by the front desk(Matt who was unnecessarily rude) )that it would be 20-40 minutes. We waited at the meeting point as instructed but no sign of the hotel shuttle. Called in again but received a very rude response from the front desk who told us that it would be another 20 minutes. Get your own transportation if decide to stay here. We did take a taxi and it took 4 minutes to get to the hotel, with comfort and no aggravation. We will return to Ft. Lauderdale after the trip in the Caribbean. We will not choose the Crown Plaza again.
Good stay, horrible shuttle experience

I would have rated this a 3 if the manager and front desk staff didn’t make up for the ridiculous shuttle experience getting from the airport. Waited well over an hour for the shuttle. I would have taken an Uber or taxi had I known. But every time I called about the shuttle the answer was “he’ll be there in 2 minutes”. When he finally showed up he moved at a snail’s pace and took his sweet time. Heard many complaints from others that they had waited a long time as well.Hopefully Lucky’s has sorted this out with the shuttle company they use. Other than that, the front desk staff were very friendly, room was clean, quiet and comfy. Yes, the bathrooms are kind of small but isn’t a deal breaker for me. I’d stay here again and will give the shuttle a second chance. If I have to wait more than 15 mins I’ll take Uber.
