Great view, but expect an older hotel

For an older hotel, the price was right, and the view can't be beat, but someone in management needs to walk through the rooms and do a quick overview. Our sliding glass door on our balcony wouldn't lock, we were unable to adjust the temperature and had to leave the door open during the day because we couldn't get the a/c to work, and the freezer door in the kitchen was covered in rust spots and looked awful. Also the front door that led to the hallway was very hard to shut; we basically had to slam it to get it to shut. One of the lights in the bedroom didn't work, and we couldn't get the TV in the bedroom to work either. (We actually had to call maintenance in on the first day because we couldn't get the front room TV to work either, but he fixed it easily.) The beds were new apparently, and were hard as rocks; they were very uncomfortable. All that being said, we have come here time and time again, because of the view, the price, the space (600 sq in the double suite), and the free umbrella/beach chairs are great, the location on Okaloosa Island is good, parking is ample, and though not free, the breakfast in the hotel restaurant was very good (although a bit pricey IMO). We have stayed here several times, and will return again. We always check for bed bugs and have never seen any, but I did see a dead roach on the floor this time, in the hallway, but I never saw any live bugs, nor have we every before. The noise from other rooms was minimal.

Where do I begin? To start we had 3 rooms for the Thanksgiving Holiday. Besides being completely outdated and in need of repair. The hvac did not work properly in any of our rooms. My in-laws room was infested with roaches. We called to ask about being moved but no other rooms were available. We asked to have the room sprayed and were told that someone would be up. I ended up going to Walmart to by roach spray. Tiny kitchen but no table and chairs to eat at. No dresser to put clothes in. We asked for a fan for the bedroom because it was extremely warm (no window to open) and was told that someone would bring us one. Never happened. I called the front desk at one point to request clean towels. The customer no-service representative answered like I was disturbing her, I politely requested the towels, she said “ok” and hung up. This was by far the worst hotel I’ve stayed in for years. Not to mention that the areas to access the rooms are not well lit and the elevators were not in the best shape. We will definitely not be staying here again. Wyndham should really be ashamed to advertise their beautiful Emerald Resort in this dump.
In need of repairs and updates. Beautiful view.

We stayed in the older building on the west side of the property. The room itself was rather outdated and need of repairs. There was rust on the doorframe in the bathroom, the air conditioner, and the door to the balcony. The air conditioner was old and ran constantly to keep up with the humidity and heat. The room decor was very dated. We were there during a tropical storm and at one point had water coming in under the "front" door even though we were on the top floor. The only remedy was to have extra towels delivered and create a dam outside of our door. The kids had fun in the pool. The view was spectacular. Overall it was an okay stay but not sure if it was worth $1300 for 4 days.
Only resort I’ve ever been in where there’s no hot water.

This hotel looks nice when you look it up on the Internet but I have to check in there’s a lot of maintenance problems in our room which was 201 we had no hot water through the state shower curtain falling off the wall if you did take a shower anytime somebody would flush the toilet in the joining room the water pressure will drop.
Great location, sub par hotel

Super location, right on the beach, close to several restaurants. And every last one of the staff was really friendly. But nothing else commends this as a great hotel. The sign in the elevator says the maids only come once every three days. We stayed five days and they never entered our room as far as we could tell. The air conditioning was loud. The room lighting is all cool white florescent (4100K), most of it was CFL bulbs. Our room had two chairs that should have been comfy, but the cushion lost its spring long ago. We enjoyed our stay, but the hotel is nothing special.
