Ok - not brilliant but well situated

Arrived at 4am after delayed flight so only had few hours in room and then breakfast. Staff were helpful in making check in quick so we could get as much sleep as possible. Was booked in as part of Naturetrek trip so unsure of individual cost but understand is 3 star and budget. Room was good sized and shower ok but all old fashioned. Breakfast was not good compared to various other places we stayed so in some ways glad we did not arrive in time for dinner. The hotel is however very close to entry to Iguazú park which is why it was chosen by Naturetrek

Had an wonderful experience staying in this hotel. Walking distance to the Brazilian Iguacu waterfall park entrance. All the room equipment's in very good status and the same for the bathroom. Good free WIFI in the room and the breakfast with plenty of choices. Nice view of the tropical rain forest from the room balcony. For those which want to go by themselves in a budget way to visit the Argentinian side of the Iguacu waterfall is not at all difficult: Take the local bus ( ticket cost 3,75 reals ) from a station close to the hotel; entrance on the direction Terminal and get down at the Shopping center. From there are around 300-400m to walk to pass the Brazilian. border. After stamping the passport, from there get in a bus ( Easy Bus, 6 reals the ticket one way ). This bus wait the travelers in need to stamp theirs passports at the Argentinian border and a couple of kilometers after the Argentinian border get down from it at the entrance in the town Puerto Iguazu. There is another bus ( 20 reals the ticket) which goes up to front of the Argentinian Iguacu waterfalls entrance. In the reverse way use the buses to come back in Brasil.
For independent travelers

We're independent explorers, so this was a perfect base for our excursions. We loved the AC, the breakfast buffet, sunsets and surrounding nature. We wish we knew more Portuguese or Spanish, because it's hard getting by with English. Walking distance to both the Tourist center (which has booth ATM and food) and Park des Aves. Outside booth places you can buy water, soda and snacks on the street. We recommend visiting the cataratez on both sides. Brazil side for the panoramic view, and Argentina side for close up experience. The helipad company opposites from the bird park provides good exchange rates to Argentina pesos. You need pesos for border control. Outside the tourist center mentioned earlier, is taxi stand. We asked to hire one of them as a full day driver (so you can day trip to Argentina), and they offer reasonable prices for that.

You know what, for under £35 per night this accommodation is ok. Walk to the Falls in under 10 mins, and get an Uber into town for 15 reals. The AC worked, the fridge worked, the safe worked and the shower worked. TV did not. The place felt clean despite being worn and very old fashioned. Usual gripes that one has in five* hotels.
A room with a view.- to one of the worlds Seven Natural Wonders!

This is the second time my wife and I stay at this wonderful hotel Cataratas. It is always a very nice relaxing experience; we consider it one of the best hotels in the world, and we do travel quite a bit. Get a room, where you can wake up with an undisturbed view of the famous Iguazu Falls - on of the worlds Seven Natural Wonders. Open the windows and you can hear the soothing sound of millions of gallons of water per second crashing down in the river Iguazu that divides Brasil and Argentina. This hotel is the only hotel inside the park. The park opens to the public at 9:00 AM, which gives you time to visit the falls up close, before busloads of tourists arrive. The staff is well trained, pleasant and always willing to answer any question and with a smile The rooms are bright and clean, and the restaurant have first class food. No private cars are allowed inside the park; there is ample parking outside the gate, and busses bring you the abt. 15 miles from the entrance to the first view point, which is also the stop for the hotel.
