Stayed here a couple times now and have yet to say I enjoy and want to come back. I have a lengthy stay here in F-burg and I’ve decided to switch hotels rather than stay due to how filthy the hotel and how stained and horrid the linens and towels are on a constant basis. Staff is always keeping guests at the front counter waiting for service and appear to always be out of towels toilet paper non decaf coffee and other basic necessities when requested. Very outdated and a lot of basic appliances are on on the verge of dying out. I’ve included a pic of how I received my wash clothes upon check in.
Not As Good As Expected
Our stay last night was at Candlewood Suites in Fredericksburg, VA. That’s the last time we stay there (or most likely another Candlewood Suites hotel.) It wasn’t horrible, but it wasn’t what we expected. The good thing was that staying there didn’t cost us any money as we had an accumulation of loyalty points from IHG. The room was supposed to be a suite with a full kitchen, but it wasn’t really a suite – just a hotel room with a cooktop, dishwasher, sink, full size refrigerator and a microwave oven. The room wasn’t even that big where I would have thought of it being a suite. Even though we booked for 2 people, there was only one coffee cup and one water glass in the room. I had to go to the front desk for more, but they only had one more coffee cup to give and no additional water glass. This morning I turned on the coffee maker and went into the bathroom to wash up. When I came out of the bathroom there was quite a mess of coffee and hot water all over the counter and dripping down to the floor. It seems the carafe was the wrong size for the coffee maker and wasn’t tall enough to touch the bottom of the basket to open the flow of brewed coffee. Again, not a horrible time but just not up to what we expected. You shouldn't have any really significant issues staying there, but just don't go with expectations that are high.
Convenient and Affordable
We spent a COVID weekend in the area and stayed over at the Candlewood. Getting in was a little tricky so close to the highway and there is no walking anywhere but otherwise it was a good hotel. Clean, good service, rooms are fine, not too loud. We would stay again.
Great accommodations
As usual, we found the hotel updated and our room clean and spacious. We like having a mini kitchen in our suite so we can have a quick breakfast before hitting the road. When traveling South we always stop at the Candlewood Suite in Fredericksburg.
Great choice.
Candlewood suites always provide us with good rooms and comfortable beds. We continue to search out Candlewood Suites on our road trips especially since we travel with our small dog.. They only charge $25 for their pet fee.
