Beautiful hotel offering peace and tranquillity, but easy walking distance to Funchal centre.

Beautiful hotel with lush well cared for gardens. Ideally situated to make the most of Funchal while being a little haven away from the crowds. Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Will definitely stay here again

Serene garden hotel

Reviewed 4 march, 2023

We had a family trip here and I felt children were welcomed nicely and the pool was perfection even in February. It was nicely heated so you could spend easily time in there. Mostly by ourselves. :D The grounds are just gorgeous and serene, very relaxing. The breakfast was super nice and there was something new every morning, and it was very tasty. Staff was always super friendly. The location is good where there are many other hotels, restaurants and small grocery stores nearby. Some walking from the center but a short taxi drive away. There was some space for rental car parking as well. Our room was quite basic, nothing special, the view was beautiful though. You can hear noises from the corridors and the other rooms, but luckily people were mainly quiet. Would love to go back some day!

A perfect hotel in Madeira

Reviewed 20 february, 2023

Our third visit to this hotel, one before covid, one last January when it was just possible post covid and one this January 2023. The hotel is located within fabulous gardens and is simply wonderful. With the old manor house, the Italian pool, the banana plantation and so many different species of plants and trees, the hotel itself is a holiday. It was lovely to see that breakfast in the Garden Pavilion had started again after covid, it is always a perfect way to start the day, wide choice and excellent service, and an al fresco breakfast in January overlooking the gardens is a real treat, compared to Atlantic gales in Cornwall. There is also a sizable enclosed by the garden outside swimming pool. All the staff at the hotel are all excellent. They are friendly, attentive and tried their utmost to make our stay as perfect as possible. We were particularly pleased to see many familiar faces from previous stays, a true sign of a good hotel. We have stayed in two types of their bedrooms and both offer good size, facilities and quality accommodation. We have not yet stretched to a stay in the manor house suites, but they look impressive. We had a few days were we relaxed, late long breakfast, reading books, walking the gardens, etc and the rest of the time we spent in Funchal town and along the coast. Funchal is walking distance from the hotel (25 mins) and we did not submit and get a bus or taxi back up the steep drag from the town. The last hill is challenging on the way back, but you can get a bus, if it is too much for you. So all in all a lovely relaxing stay to start the year.

Beautiful hotel in stunning grounds

Reviewed 14 february, 2023

The Casa Branca is one of the best hotels in which we have ever stayed. Small but perfectly formed. It is in a lovely position, being above but still near to Funchal. The gardens are extensive and truly stunning. The staff are uniformly professional but very friendly. The breakfast is a mixture of freshly cooked dishes and an extensive buffet, which is constantly refreshed. The newly opened lunch/drinks bar and terrace is a good place to meet fellow guests, in an informal setting and with a ‘happy hour’ too! This hotel is the antithesis of the many, very modern but very large hotels down on the Lido front. Go and enjoy - best of all just relax!

Amazing stay, great staff and surrondings

Reviewed 9 february, 2023

From the greeting at reception to the loading of our bags in to the taxi the service and care was top notch. We stayed in eth manor house which was a spacious suite with its own large balcony over looking the gardens. The gardens are amazing and block you view to the outside world forming an oasis. Well worth a wander round. The breakfast was excellent and staff amazing. Well looked after and you could see why so many of the other occupants had returned here. The restaurant food was beautiful and casual dress which was nice. House keeping were lovely, so friendly and a turndown service at night. Some really nice restaurants a short walk down the hill and a nice promenade to wall along.
