With a great position on top of a hill with magnificent views, this hotel, which sits on a manor house building, is ideally located for everyone looking for a relaxing holiday experience near the sea. From the hotel, guests can enjoy breath-taking views to the Atlantic Ocean, Funchal's city centre and verdant Madeira's mountains. The city centre of Funchal can be easily reached in a 20-minute walk, as well as other nearby villages. All guest rooms are nicely furnished with superior materials and stunning features such as a private balcony with panoramic views. Each of them is individually deco...More details

Very poor 5* Hotel

First of all the Hotel has nice views, that is all! Just stayed there for 5 nights, Christmas day until the 30th December 2021. Rooms decent size but badly need updating and not enough storage space. The food in this Hotel is worst than a transport cafe! At breakfast i was told they don't serve toast? lol What Hotel doesn't have toast? On our last day we skipped breakfast and dinner, too bad to eat to be honest! The staff did their best and no complaints with them but the food is awful ! At best this Hotel is 3 and a half stars! The gardens hadn't been tended for a long while! The Hotel is situated at the top of a steep hill so a car is needed or a Taxi at least, quite dangerous to walk down the hill, we did it a couple of times and too steep to walk back! I would strongly advise against staying here! Definitely not 5 *

We stayed at your hotel 1 month ago and we thought to leave this comment here. The hotel was a little bit dirty, breakfast iits ok but not so many options. You can go down to Funchal with taxi less than 8 euros and Mauricio is very nice. On our penultimate night (21st August) we heard screams and went downstairs to see whats going on, we saw the man of the bar completely drunk, probably was drinking drinks from the bar, was wearing an open shirt and being aggressive with the 2 receptionists. We've never seen anything like that. I don't recommend this hotel. At all.
Things to concider

The hotel is just opening after the pandemic so there are pros and cons to conciser: - room was OK, conditions working, no fridge, but the view is fantastic - staff was friendly, rooms cleaned everyday - breakfast was 5/10 and a bit slow, but the view from the balcony made it better, but do not take the dinner option - to expensive and not worth it - pool area small but clean, water is clean, inside pool still closed - hotel has a small and cozy garden for your morning coffee Overall - the hotel has some minor issues and is defenetely not a 5 star hotel but the views are fantastic, the staff is doing their best so give them a chance!
What a dump!

What can we say…..having travelled all over the world this has to be the worst hotel we’ve ever experienced! We we due to have 11 nights here and left after day one, and only stayed the one night because of late arrival and couldn’t arrange anything else at short notice. The room was ok but in desperate need of refurbishment, like the rest of the hotel. Dirty carpets, bad smells, worn out furniture and sunbeds. The pool was very small and inadequate, as well as being extremely dirty. All the facilities advertised were unavailable and that included the shuttle bus, which was needed because there was very little near the hotel and the roads extremely dangerous and hilly. Breakfast was like school dinners, had to book a time and there was only one man serving, so had to queue up. The choice was limited. We spoke to the manager about our concerns and her attitude was appalling and threatening and we have have every sympathy with the staff who did their best in difficult circumstances.
Still opening up

We booked a last minute deal here just to have a few days sun. It’s classed as a 5 star hotel but I am struggling to give it a 3 star rating. The pros: the majority of the the staff are friendly and helpful. The views from the terrace are lovely. The room was reasonable with a super king bed, fridge and safe. The air con worked well. The rooms on the second floor have a view of the hills, the town and the sea. The cons: only the small outside pool was available for use, and for the first four days of our stay the water was green and murky. Finally they put some chlorine in it and it was much improved. The indoor pool, sauna and jacuzzi were all off limits. The buffet breakfast was served by one person causing queues at times. The hot offering was lukewarm and there was only one choice of cereal per day. We were half board so had a four course meal each evening. The food was ok but there were only two choices, take it or leave it. The fish course was generally very nice, but the meat course was not guaranteed to have meat in it and was served mainly with boiled rice or cous cous. There is no lock on the bathroom or toilet door in the room. The internet was a bit iffy in the room but better in the public areas. Outside the are two guard geese and they weren’t able to graze like they should and their pond water was thick, green and murky although the goldfish seem to be surviving in it. There were a couple of cats around the hotel and staff were looking after them. One thing to note, despite what it says on the website, there is currently no shuttle bus. The roads around are not safe to walk on so take plenty of euros for taxi rides everywhere. This hotel only reopened at the start of August and it appears that the top floor and best rooms are not yet in use. There are minimal staff running it and they are working hard.
