Good pools but very low ceiling in bedroom (hit head if sit up in bed) & spiders

We stayed at the Kube hotel whilst attending a wedding nearby. The pool was fabulous but the room was very disappointing and more like a hostel than a hotel: Positives: The pool areas, two of which look out to sea. Stunning pools. Can't fault them Negatives: 1. We asked for a quiet room and were given a mezzanine room with an odd layout. The bed was up a staircase on a mezzanine level with a low sloping ceiling. You have to crouch down to get into bed. We both hit our head against the ceiling multiple times as a result. If you wake up needing to go to the loo, you sit up, hit your head, then have to go down a full staircase to the loo 2. Spiders: The mezzanine felt like an attic room with Spiders. Every night we needed to clear Spiders from the low ceiling directly above our bed in order to sleep 3. The toilet: The toilet is bizarre. It is way too high and cube shaped. Very uncomfortable to sit on. No adult should have to dangle their legs on a toilet because it's too high. Even my husband, who is 6 foot 3, had his legs dangling 4. The cost: For the amount we paid, we would expect to be able to sit up in bed. This is a very expensive hotel, but the bed st mezzanine level with Spiders felt like a hostel

Stayed at the Kube with my fiancé and we are totally in love with hotel and all the facilities. Amazing swimming pools with sea view, very friendly staff, perfect location just 15 min walking distance from the center, breakfasts top! Surely, next time we visit St.Tropez we stay at the Kube.
An Epic Fail.

Un Échec Épique. An Epic Fail inside the room. Like “The Good Place” room designed for torture - just without the clown pictures. Not for you if you care about intelligent room design, clean rooms, advance notice about having no restaurant, or a concierge with local clout. Or if you want a room in St. Tropez - this hotel is actually in Gassin. The hotel room itself is a “fashion victim.” An epic fail of its own design. The obsession with the cube and the square everywhere results in many flaws. The cleaning crew comes in and mops the floor each day … with a dirty wet mop. And leaves a wet dirty floor AND wet dirty hair from someone else! And in one case with toilet paper attached! I cannot make this up. There is a good reason why square toilets - in a cube shape with square seats - are not common. First is the obvious that since square, the back dimension (and opening) is not as deep and open as a normal oval toilet. And water is not used to flushing down a square. And our square one took over 6 minutes (!) to refill the flush tank. So if you care about hygiene, these both are a big turn off. The only clothing drawers are behind closet doors that were completely blocked by a chair and side table. So prepare to move furniture. We also had to move the bedside end table to get to that plug for charging anything. The “Do not disturb” sign is comically too large for the door. The door cannot close and latch (or lock) if you use the sign. The bathroom has two ceiling lights - and one was out upon our arrival. We called immediately and asked for that to be fixed. The next day we also reported this directly to the front desk. We also reported the 5 watt USB outlet on the desk had no power. When we left on our fourth day, both items were still out. No other power plugs are on or above the only desk. The only plug is under it, necessitating getting on one’s hands and knees. The bathroom also has a mirror above each sink, with a horrible fluorescent light bulb strip. Besides a terrible light glow, if you are above 6’ tall (190 cm) it is right in your eyes when you look at the mirror. One of our two fixtures also had a bad ballast, so would not always light up. And it had an exposed electrical wire dangling from the fixture as well. Can’t make this stuff up. The Good Place is indeed here on earth. The one shower head/spray nozzle (there in no other, which is unusual) is over 7’ (215 cm) above the floor. There is no typical vertical chrome tube for sliding the head down. So it’s stuck at 7’-plus high, or by hand held only. And if you are short, say 5’-3” or less, you cannot even reach it. You also have to get fully inside the tub to turn on the shower, as the glass partition does not swing open like most do. There is also no built-in shelf space in the bathroom! None. In a probable reaction to comments about no shelf space, what looks a late addition is a small rolling metal cart, only 9” x 12”. But it’s placed directly in the only path to the toilet. Another design fail. The TV is askew - at a 45 degree viewing angle from the bed. And is not movable. The bed (king size) is ok and a bit below average comfort for this class of property. The room door has a really silly miniature doorknob. Like it’s just the inside mechanism of a real knob. It is too small for leverage and very hard to open. A design fail. The main pool (of three pools, two heated) also has an epic design fail. The only entry steps into the water first step down 8” each (20 cm) going down, but the last one is over 2’ deep! (65 cm!). Which is obviously dumb when you try to get out of the pool (there are no ladders) and it’s a mandatory 26” high first step. Check in took over 20 minutes! With no one ahead of us. We arrived at 4:20 pm. And the reception room is way too small - a separate entry shack that cannot comfortably fit two arriving parties at the same time. Their one and only restaurant Daki Daya (was previously called Marius) took our reservation in advance online - but was closed when we arrived! Although we booked that ahead, they never notified us until we asked when there. It was closed every evening we were there. With their restaurant closed, the Concierge recommended nearby restaurant Bouillabaisse for our first night. Then he could not get us in - for that night or the next. So he recommended Italian - and could not us in. Then he could only get 7:30 at another place (Les Viviers) when we wanted later. I then simply walked the 3 blocks to Bouillabaisse and got an 8:30 res for this first night (AND had a choice of tables and of times.) i also went online and got 8:30 the next night at Les Viviers. On the bright side, the grounds are beautifully designed, and the pools are stunning in a showy-for-Instagram way. And two of the three pools have open views of the bay. There are lots of lounge chairs with umbrellas. The rest of the site design is well done, and one can tell the exterior designer was a real pro. Unlike the room “designer.” To add insult to injury, this hotel is not at all in St. Tropez. Is is in Gassin. Gassin is the town before St. Tropez for all arriving by car.
Probably the best view of St. Tropez but terrible housekeeping service.

In my reviews most of the times I mentioned always the same… I was lucky enough to travel around the world and seeing 5 * and 7* hotels… so really this is not a 5* hotel. Maybe for French hospitality’s standards it is, but for the ones who loves high end traveling not at all! Location was perfect! Views were amazing! Room was fine, had a large balcony, even room was not all functional. We arrived after driving through Provence area, no welcome drink , fresh towel … regular stuff that even Caribbean all inclusive resorts did. Reception stuff was nice but not really fluently either English or Spanish. At the arrival they never explained what was included or not and all the details. So we realize after our second day breakfast was included, but parking was not included 🤦🏼♀️ Also we had an standard frigobar at our suite , but were not menu or list price for the stuff… so my aunt thought was like breakfast … they did not mention that is included but it is. In this case was not… and really is not fir what they charged you is because they didn’t give the accurate information. So you have an amazing buffet breakfast but later they charged you for a few nuts 🤦🏼♀️ Out first day since we were extremely tired we ask for ice to our room…. We already left and still waiting for it. Concierge service is not able to leave you a note , send a text or whatever to inform you about your reservations. I had to check every day with the concierge who by the way English was not really good and Spanish not at all. We should wait for our car for more than 25 minutes… valet was gone? And they charged you for the service? Stuff is friendly and nice but if you do not speak French you are in trouble. Housekeeping… no words, left they dirty stuff on the room , did not remove ice buckets from previous days… cleaning is mmm… But location is great, shuttle is perfect, views are to died for… and also stuff is nice but lack of experience.

Very friendly staff, very well maintained domain and the rooms are always very clean. We have been bringing our dog for 2 years and that is no problem at all.Only 10 minutes walk from the harbour and they have 2 luxury shuttles that drop you off / pick you up in the center (hotel is very well located). Very good concierge service to arrange reservations in local restaurants & beaches. We came to this hotel for the 6th time in 10 years and will definitely come back. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to be close to the center & beaches but still wants to enjoy the tranquility of the beautiful swimming pools.
