Good but tired
Reviewed 2 february, 2023
The hotel is in an excellent location with good parking facilities, although parking was full when I visited so probably not enough spaces. The rooms are a good size but are beginning to look a bit tired. The hot water was very hot, the beds were comfortable and staff friendly. Free and good WiFi, very clean and 11am checkout made for a comfortable stay. Towels, mattress, sheets and pillows all spotless. However it was a few little things that bothered us. For example, we had room service one evening when we were too tired to go out after a long day and the food arrived after an hour and was cold as well as bland and overpriced. The view wasn't great and one glance out the window you could see into everyone else's rooms and what they were up to - though it depends on the room you get. The TV had pretty much no signal and the settings were locked so I couldn't retune it and the toilet had the weakest flush ever. The whole room seemed like it was overdue an update. Would stay again but expected a little better from the hotel.

Good basic hotel

Good basic hotel. Great for a one night stay. Rooms are a little bit dated but it's not a major concern. Great onsite parking. Easy to walk into the city centre for both Gateshead and Newcastle. Friendly staff.

Best value hotel in Newcastle
Reviewed 19 january, 2023
I've stayed in other hotels in the Newcastle area but this is the best value I've come across. £43 for a night, with a large room (single and double beds) and a bath/shower. All spotlessly clean too. The location may not be ideal for some, but for me being on the other bank of the Tyne meant a quiet nights sleep. Most of those staying seem to be for work rather than the nightlife... I've used the Easyhotel in Newcastle at a similar price but had to go down and complain in the middle of the night about the cold, a chair collapsed, and the noise was unbelievable.

Wonderful stay over Christmas and New Year
Reviewed 5 january, 2023
We stayed over Christmas and New Year 2022-23 and had a wonderful time. The hotel was immaculate and the staff were fantastic - every single person we spoke to was courteous, friendly, welcoming, yet professional. (Our only minor problem is that staff names on their badges are quite small so difficult to read!) We stayed in an executive room which was very clean, in good order, serviced and replenished daily by very competent staff and had excellent facilities (such as a safe, mini fridge, tea and coffee etc). The views over the river, quayside and Millennium Bridge are exceptional from rooms on the west and north sides of the hotel. All in all a superb stay in a lovely hotel. We will be back!

Quiet enjoyable break
Reviewed 3 january, 2023
Had a short break between Xmas and New year on my own at the Leonardo hotel which initially was a 2 night break but ended up staying 3 nights as I was happy staying there, the room had great views over the Tyne and was comfortable and warm, it was a 20 min. walk from central station which meant it was in a quiet location which suited me, I would return to this hotel in the future.
